The Finger of God for Healing: Faith Healing Priest Draws Thousands

One is inexorably drawn to the mysterious intensity of God's compassion and love in Fr. McAlear as his lips move in silent groanings and he cradles the stricken faces of those for whom he prays.Shunning sensationalism or hysteria, he facilitates healing with a whisper, using very few, if any, words. "Once you really understand the pain in the people's hearts and the power of Christ to heal, there is nothing to say," says McAlear.
http://www.catholic.org/photos/photo.php?news=36722
Although in his 40th year of healing ministry, Fr. McAlear does not claim to have the gift of healing, only the gift of prayer: 'We pray to God and things happen. I know it's not me; I know God is there, and I'm almost watching Him do things. It's Jesus' compassion, the love of God that is doing the healing.'

NASHVILLE, TN (Catholic Online) - "The Spirit of God is on me. He anointed me to bring Good News to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted and to free the oppressed" (Is. 61:1).

Although he is often referred to affectionately as "the healing priest," it is a title that Father Richard McAlear shuns. A priest of the Oblate of Mary Immaculate Order, he is one of the few priests in the Catholic Church who call themselves faith healers.

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal began in 1967 after a retreat held at Duquense University in Pittsburgh. The movement grew and gained recognition in the Church among the leadership and laity.

Fr. McAlear received permission from the Oblates, in accordance to Church guidelines, to enter full time charismatic ministry in 1975 after doing retreats and prayer services and witnessing the healing power of God through his prayers in the previous three years.

It began for Fr. McAlear in 1972 at a prayer meeting with a woman in attendance who was in severe back pain. An elderly Pentecostal revert to Catholicism approached Fr. McAlear and told him he needed to pray over the woman. The young priest had no idea what she meant. His only experience with "praying over people," was a Pentecostal televangelist he had once seen on TV whose healing theatrics included jumping up and down and ecstatic speaking.

Finally, after an awkward, pregnant silence, Fr. McAlear blessed her. And she was healed. Visibly. Publicly. Word spread quickly and, inundated with requests from the gravely ill, he made "healing ministry" his life's work, traveling the globe, celebrating Masses, and speaking at retreats and conferences.

Contemporary faith healing often provokes images of "Pentecostal faith healing" and other "charismatic" mumbo-jumbo, in which healing is said to be a visible sign and product of one's faith, and some evangelists in tent revivals or on TV sometimes defraud the desperately ill with staged "healings" in order to draw donations.

Rather than faith in what is NOT seen (2 Cor. 5:7) miraculous, visible healing can actually impede growing in faith when it is pursued in the wrong way, for its own sake or out of sensationalism: "Jesus therefore said to him, 'Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe'" (Jn. 4:48).

Despite that real danger, healing is a pillar of Christian dogma and has always been a part of the lived experience of the Church. Although corrupted by some who would attempt to make a dollar through what the Scriptures call "Balaam's error" (Jude 1:11), true faith healing, like exorcism, is sanctioned by the Church. It is to be done in the proper forum and in fidelity to the Church. The USCCB issued a statement in 1969 stating that the charismatic movement "has legitimate reasons of existence. It has a strong Biblical basis."

In the Scriptures, Jesus Christ is said to have cured the sick, sometimes with the laying on of hands. The gospels encourage priests to go out and anoint the sick with oil. St. Paul lists healing as a spiritual gift. Faith healing has been practiced quietly and faithfully by Catholic priests throughout her history. In fact, every Sacramental Annointing of the Sick is a Prayer for Healing, including the possibility of physical healing.

The Vatican has not only endorsed faith healing, but Pope Benedict actually called on those who have the gift of healing to share it in the Instruction on Prayers for Healing released by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. As Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, he offered guidance on administering the gift: "Anything resembling hysteria, artificiality, theatricality or sensationalism, above all on the part of those who are in charge of such gatherings, must not take place (Instruction on Prayers for Healing).

The Catechism speaks of healing: "In the sacraments Christ continues to 'touch' us in order to heal us" (CCC, 1504). "The Holy Spirit gives to some a special charism of healing so as to make manifest the power of the grace of the risen Lord" (CCC 1508).

In adherence and faithfulness to Catholic Tradition, Fr. McAlear is not the kind of healer for whom people jump from their wheelchairs and throw away their medicines or crutches, although there have been more than a few physical healings through the years. Rather than faith in his own faith, Fr. McAlear surrenders to God.

Shunning sensationalism or hysteria, he facilitates healing with a whisper, using very few, if any, words. "Once you really understand the pain in the people's hearts and the power of Christ to heal, there is nothing to say," says McAlear.

"The Catholic tradition tends to be more sacramental, very earthly and human, gentle, quiet. We pray for healing in a quiet way.

Worldwide hour of Eucharistic adoration

Pope Francis will lead a worldwide hour of Eucharistic adoration on Sunday, June 2, the Vatican has announced.

On that date, cathedrals all across the world will hold an hour of Eucharistic adoration at the same time, inviting the faithful to pray for the Pope’s intentions. The worldwide session of adoration will take place from 5 to 6 Sunday afternoon in Rome, and cathedrals worldwide will synchronize their vigils to match that time. The Pope has asked the universal Church to pray for two intentions during the hour of adoration:

  1. For the Church spread throughout the world and united today in the adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist as a sign of unity. May the Lord make her ever more obedient to hearing his Word in order to stand before the world ‘ever more beautiful, without stain or blemish, but holy and blameless.’ That through her faithful announcement, the Word that saves may still resonate as the bearer of mercy and may increase love to give full meaning to pain and suffering, giving back joy and serenity.
  2. For those around the world who still suffer slavery and who are victims of war, human trafficking, drug running, and slave labor. For the children and women who are suffering from every type of violence. May their silent scream for help be heard by a vigilant Church so that, gazing upon the crucified Christ, she may not forget the many brothers and sisters who are left at the mercy of violence.
  3.  Also, for all those who find themselves in economically precarious situations, above all for the unemployed, the elderly, migrants, the homeless, prisoners, and those who experience marginalization. That the Church’s prayer and its active nearness give them comfort and assistance in hope and strength and courage in defending human dignity.
The worldwide hour of Eucharistic adoration is one of two initiatives for the Year of Faith, announced on May 28 by the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization. The other initiative is Evangelium Vitae Day, which will be observed June 15-16. Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the president of the Pontifical Council, outlined plans for the observance.

On Saturday evening, June 14, a candlelight procession will advance down the Via della Conciliazione into St. Peter’s Square, with participants from all over the world, calling attention to the dignity of human life. Earlier that day, participants will visit the tomb of St. Peter, with an opportunity for Confession and adoration in the Vatican basilica. On Sunday morning Pope Francis will preside at Mass with all participants.

Pope Francis when a Christian has no difficulties in life something is wrong.

 Credit: Stephen Driscoll/CNA.
.- Faithful Christians will always face difficulties, said Pope Francis on Tuesday, warning that a worldly, career-based approach to faith avoids the suffering and persecution inherent in following Christ.

“Many Christians, tempted by the spirit of the world, think that following Jesus is good because it can become a career, they can get ahead,” the Pope said.

“When a Christian has no difficulties in life – when everything is fine, everything is beautiful – something is wrong.”

He suggested this temptation is common for a Christian who is “a great friend of the spirit of the world, of worldliness.”

“You cannot remove the cross from the path of Jesus, it is always there,” he added.

Pope Francis delivered his homily at morning Mass at the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta residence. Archbishop Rino Fisichella and Monsignor José Octavio Ruiz Arenas, respectively the president and secretary of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, concelebrated Mass.

“Think of Mother Teresa: what does the spirit of the world say of Mother Teresa? ‘Ah, Blessed Teresa is a beautiful woman, she did a lot of good things for others.’ The spirit of the world never says that the Blessed Teresa spent, every day, many hours in adoration ... Never!” the Pope said.

He explained that the worldly spirit “reduces Christian activity to doing social good.”

“As if Christian life was a gloss, a veneer of Christianity,” he said. “The proclamation of Jesus is not a veneer: the proclamation of Jesus goes straight to the bones, heart, goes deep within and changes us. And the spirit of the world does not tolerate it, will not tolerate it, and therefore, there is persecution.”

Just as Pope Francis criticized career-based Christianity, he also warned about a solely culture-based approach to the faith.

He criticized the attitude of following Jesus because one was born in a Christian culture. He said this ignores “the necessity of true discipleship of Jesus, the necessity to travel his road.”

“If you follow Jesus as a cultural proposal, then you are using this road to get higher up, to have more power. And the history of the Church is full of this, starting with some emperors and then many rulers and many people, no?” the Pope observed.

The Holy Father said that this attitude is present even among some priests and bishops.

He concluded with an exhortation to follow Jesus Christ truly.

“Following Jesus is just that: going with him out of love, behind him: on the same journey, the same path. And the spirit of the world will not tolerate this and what will make us suffer, but suffering as Jesus did,” he said.

“Let us ask for this grace: to follow Jesus in the way that he has revealed to us and that he has taught us. This is beautiful, because he never leaves us alone. Never! He is always with us. So be it.”

One can feel great peace in Medjurorje

date: 17.05.2013.

Fr. Sean Parsons from England came to Medjugorje for the fourth time. This time he arrived with another three pilgrims. He heard about Medjugorje from his aunt, who is nun, and that made him come and visit this place. Four years after his first visit he joined the seminary and came afterwards again to Medjugorje together with his parents.
Fr. Parsons said: “Few weeks after I was ordained, I returned to Medjugorje. This is where one can feel great peace, an immense joy in celebration of the Holy Eucharist and in confessions. It is beautiful to hear the experiences of pilgrims during confessions because we can see that their hearts have changed. When they come here, they all want to reject what is wrong in their lives and to return to Jesus. Pilgrims read Our Lady’s messages, we all read those messages, but how much do we live those - that is another issue. Each one of us should decide to live according to Our Lady’s messages, because Our Lady is tirelessly inviting us, especially to place the prayer of Rosary into the centre of our life so we could be converted in that way.”   http://www.medjugorje.hr/en/

Our Lady's Medjugorje message to Marija of May 25, 2013

Dear children! Today I call you to be strong and resolute in faith and prayer, until your prayers are so strong so as to open the Heart of my beloved Son Jesus. Pray little children, pray without ceasing until your heart opens to God’s love. I am with you and I intercede for all of you and I pray for your conversion. Thank you for having responded to my call.

A Little Reflection  (by Sr. Isabel)

Prayer is the key to open the Heart of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our Lady continuously urges us to more prayer. I don't think she means more words, but rather, she calls us to a greater depth in our prayers. Words, words, words, just to "pray more" do not deepen our relationship with Jesus. Recently, Pope Francis commented on prayer saying:  "Look at the face of God, but above all ... know that you are being looked at in return." Just to sit and ponder the face of God, not saying anything, just gazing into his face, knowing that He is at the same time gazing at you is an awesome way to grow deeper in prayer, allowing His love to penetrate your heart. Our Lady will show us the way if we ask her because she is praying for us. As a mother, she desires only our whole hearted conversion as we fall deeper in love with her Son.

Christ be our Light

Dear children! As I call you to prayer for those who have not come to know the love of God, if you were to look into your hearts you would comprehend that I am speaking about many of you. With an open heart, sincerely ask yourselves if you want the Living God or do you want to eliminate Him and live as you want. Look around you, my children, and see where the world is going, the world that thinks of doing everything without the Father, and which wanders in the darkness of temptation. I am offering to you the light of the Truth and the Holy Spirit. According to God's plan I am with you to help you to have my Son, His Cross and Resurrection, triumph in your hearts. As a mother, I desire and pray for your unity with my Son and His works. I am with you; you decide. Thank you. Our Lady's message to Mirjana of (June 2, 2011)

American Testifies To Vicka's Bilocations

by Jakob Marschner

In a fully conscious state, Scott Lannin from Michigan saw Medjugorje visionary Vicka Ivankovic-Mijatovic smiling at him five years ago in his hospital room. Told by his wife, his testimony is the first public one about Vicka’s bilocations that the seer says she is not aware of herself.

Medjugorje pilgrim Scott Lannin from Howell, MI, got a major surprise when he was in hospital five years ago. He told his wife he was visited by visionary Vicka Ivankovic-Mijatovic.

Vicka’s alleged gift of bilocation was rumoured for years before she first talked about it in public, saying in a new book that she has heard people tell her such stories, but can neither confirm nor deny them.

Scott Lannin and his wife Barbara had been in Medjugorje two years earlier when his mysteruous encounter with Vicka took place.

“While in the hospital either in May or June of 2008 Scott was in the hospital for either his knee or his hip replacement. He has had over 20 surgeries since 1994. He has received The Last Rites many times” Barbara Lannin tells Medjugorje Today.

“On this particular night the people who took us to Medjugorje in 2006 came to visit Scott. When it was time for them to leave, I walked with them to the elevators and then came back to his room.  It was very strange because there should have been several nurses at the nurses station which was right at Scott’s door but there was no one around.”

“I went back into his room and sat in the chair next to him. He said to me, “Did you see her?” I said “who?”, he said “Vicka” and I said “what are you talking about?.” And again he said “Vicka, the visionary from Medjugorje! She was right here in the doorway of the room smiling at me. She had on a pink golf shirt and she was smiling at me. She didn’t say a word she just kept smiling at me” says Barbara Lannin.

She further tells Medjugorje Today that her husband was not a Catholic, and that she had “fallen away from the Church” when they went to Medjugorje in 2006.

“The experience changed both of our lives forever. I came back to the Catholic Church and he became a Catholic. Today I belong to two Medjugorje prayer groups, and we spread the word about Medjugorje every time we get the chance.”    Source-  http://www.medjugorjetoday.tv/

Dear Family of Mary!

Today was a fruitful day for us. As Denis and I prayed the Rosary on line, we were able to share videos shot just hours before in Medjugorje, at the Blue Cross. We felt like we were in Our Lady's "living room", we were so at home! It is always a blessing to share the intimate prayer time at the Blue Cross.

Then, by surprise, our team in Medjugorje arranged to be on Apparition Hill with Ivan Dragicevic's prayer group, for the apparition at 10:00 pm local time (3:00 pm EDT) and to stream the prayer and apparition, live! It was dark, but we could see the brightly lit statue of Our Lady that stands on the original apparition spot, and the silhouette of Ivan as he led the rosary. We were present for Our Lady's blessing! All who could join were blessed! It was wonderful! (We are sorry that there was not more notice for all of you, but we only found out 2 hours before the event.)

After the apparition, Ivan shared a message from Our Lady:

According to Ivan, "Our Lady came very joyful and greeted us with her motherly greeting, "Praised be Jesus." She prayed over all of us here with her hands extended. In a special way she prayed over those who were sick.

She said 'Dear children, also today, in a special way, I invite you in this time of grace to open your souls to the Holy Spirit. Dear children, do not permit the world to lead you. Therefore, may the Holy Spirit lead you. Pray, persevere in prayer, that the Holy Spirit may descend upon your families who are in darkness. The mother prays together with you, intercedes before her son for you. Thank you, dear children, for responding to my call today.'

Ivan continued, saying "She blessed us with her motherly blessing, and blessed all the articles we brought with us. I recommended all of you, your needs, intentions, and families and especially the sick. Afterwards Our Lady continued to pray over us and then left in an illuminated sign of the cross, saying 'Go in peace my dear children.'"

In this beautiful message, Our Lady focuses on the necessity of the Holy Spirit! We have just finished our novena to the Holy Spirit. What a beautiful message for us to receive from her!

Finally, tonight, on "Fruit of Medjugorje" we were blessed with a testimony from Fr. Peter Glas, in which his shares about the healing of a young boy from terrible seizures, through prayer to Our Lady on Apparition Hill at one of Ivan's apparitions at night! I encourage all of you to watch "Fruit of Medjugorje, Episode 68" in the archives. It is truly amazing!!

This has been a very full day of blessings, an explosion of graces for us all, straight from Medjugorje. Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude to Our Lady of Medjugorje, and to the Lord who blesses us through her intercession!

We will have the apparition with Ivan up on our website tomorrow. God bless each of you!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Vicka Unaware of Claimed Bilocations

by Jakob Marschner

Medjugorje visionary Vicka Ivankovic-Mijatovic has been seen in the homes of several people, even though it is known that she was elsewhere when the sightings occured. Vicka confirms that people have told her of healings through her visits, but says she does not know what happens.

Several people testify that Medjugorje visionary Vicka Ivankovic-Mijatovic has been present in their homes, and that healings have resulted – by a time when Vicka was elsewhere.

The phenomenon is called bilocation, and is among the most rare gifts of the Holy Spirit. In recent decades, the ability to be present in more than one place at the same time has also been associated with Saint Padre Pio.

Though she has heard people tell her stories of her presence, Vicka has no conscious awareness of possessing the gift, she tells the Irish author and Medjugorje resident Finbar O’Leary in the new, updated version of his book “Vicka, Her Story”:

- Your most recent gift, the gift of bilocation, seems to be similar to St. Padre Pio, where you are coming to people all over the world. I have heard some beautiful stories about this, that as a result of you appearing to them, people are healed of cancer and many different sicknesses? the author asks Vicka.

“I do not know. I pray about it. I cannot confirm or deny any of that. They are mostly people who have some illness like cancer and perhaps are not able to move” Vicka replies.

“When they visit Medjugorje, they tell me that they experienced my presence in their homes, that I was there. But I have no awareness of that” the visionary adds.

- A woman from Italy shared with me a few months ago that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was waiting to go into hospital. One night while asleep in her home, a beautiful young woman appeared, dressed in white. Later in hospital, further tests showed the cancer was completely gone. Shortly afterwards she came to Medjugorje with a small group of pilgrims from Italy. One morning they came to the yeard of your home, to hear you speak. The moment she saw you, Vicka, she recognised you as the young woman who had appeared in her home.

“As I said, I have no awareness of this but I do pray about it.”

Holy Spirit makes Church always new

Holy Spirit makes Church always new, Pope says at Pentecost Mass

CWN - May 20, 2013

“God always brings newness—and demands our complete trust,” Pope Francis said in his homily at a Pentecost Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square.
More than 200,000 people attended the morning Mass, which concluded a pilgrimage organized for ecclesial movements as part of the Year of Faith. In his homily the Pontiff spoke particularly of new movements and new developments in the Church, as manifestations of the working of the Holy Spirit.
“Newness always makes us a bit fearful, because we feel more secure if we have everything under control,” the Holy Father remarked. “It is hard to abandon ourselves to him with complete trust, allowing the Holy Spirit to be the soul and guide of our lives.” However, the newness that comes from the Holy Spirit brings true happiness, “because God loves us and desires only our good.”
“Are we open to God’s surprises?” the Pope asked the congregation. “Or are we closed and fearful before the newness of the Holy Spirit?” He suggested that the faithful should ask themselves these questions every day.
Turning to the effects that the “newness” brought by the Holy Spirit can have upon the Church, the Pope said:

The Holy Spirit would appear to create disorder in the Church, since he brings the diversity of charisms and gifts; yet all this, by his working, is a great source of wealth, for the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of unity, which does not mean uniformity, but which leads everything back to harmony…Only the Spirit can awaken diversity, plurality, and multiplicity, while at the same time building unity.
For those involved in new movements, the Pope continued, it is essential to maintain a strong sense of the Church. “It is the Church which brings Christ to me, and me to Christ; parallel journeys are very dangerous!” he warned. Those who move outside the community of the Church are breaking their ties to the source of grace, he said.
Finally, the Pope said, the Holy Spirit is the source of inspiration for effective evangelization. “It is the Paraclete, the 'Comforter', who grants us the courage to take to the streets of the world, bringing the Gospel!”
During his midday audience after the morning Mass, the Pope remarked that the Eucharistic celebration had renewed the experience of the Church at the first Pentecost, and had "transformed St. Peter's Square into an "upper room" under the heavens."

Children of Medjugorje Newsletter

May 15, 2013
Dear Children of Medjugorje, praised be Jesus and Mary!

1. On May 2nd, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at the Blue Cross, and the Podbrdo was covered with huge crowds! After the apparition, she gave the following message:

"Dear children, Anew, I am calling you to love and not to judge. My Son, according to the will of the Heavenly Father, was among you to show you the way of salvation, to save you and not to judge you. If you desire to follow my Son, you will not judge but love like your Heavenly Father loves you. And when it is the most difficult for you, when you are falling under the weight of the cross do not despair, do not judge, instead remember that you are loved and praise the Heavenly Father because of His love. My children, do not deviate from the way on which I am leading you. Do not recklessly walk into perdition. May prayer and fasting strengthen you so that you can live as the Heavenly Father would desire; that you may be my apostles of faith and love; that your life may bless those whom you meet; that you may be one with the Heavenly Father and my Son. My children, that is the only truth, the truth that leads to your conversion, and then to the conversion of all those whom you meet - those who have not come to know my Son - all those who do not know what it means to love. My children, my Son gave you a gift of the shepherds. Take good care of them. Pray for them. Thank you."

2. The table.
This month Our Lady invites us not only to pray for our shepherds, but also to take good care of them. Are the sheep going to take good care of their shepherds?  Our Mother in Heaven sees everything from above; she knows how much the Evil one attacks our priests, they are so precious in God's plan! Yet there are some concrete means of protection. I know an old priest who told me this story:
"When I was ordained a priest, I made a promise to the Lord. I committed myself to always having a table between myself and the person who would come to see me for counseling, or for whatever reason, to protect myself. This promise was not always easy to keep, but I kept it, thanks to God and it saved me. One day, a woman came to see me in her need to speak to a priest about her situation. I was immediately very attracted to her, and I even fell in love with her. Thoughts of her entered my mind and my strong feelings were uncontrollable. Besides that, she came often to see me with her problems. Each time I felt a strong desire to take her in my arms, or even to reveal my feelings to her. But the table was there, between us!
"Oh, how I detested that table! Yet the table never moved. The torture lasted three years. Then one day, the woman came as usual, and as I was looking at her, I realized that I no longer felt anything for her. All my feelings had disappeared as quickly as they had come! I continued to do my best to help her, but with great freedom of heart, just as with a sister in Christ. I understood that this feeling was a trap that the enemy had set for me to destroy my priesthood. That table saved my priestly vocation; or rather through my promise to Jesus to remain vigilant through a concrete protection, Jesus saved me from disaster."
Afterwards, this priest was given a special charism to help tormented people. How many hearts did he help, how many lives did he save by praying and giving witness to God's mercy!? What a loss his fall would have been to so many people! Today he is a happy priest, preparing to return to the Lord, filled with the joy of having been able to humbly serve the Church in the midst of waves and having remained a priest!
Blessed was that table!

But if this priest was able to insure his own protection as early as his ordination, we, lay people, can also place "tables" around our priests and find effective means to avoid situations that could make them fall. Isn't this a good way to "take good care of them"?

3. Blessed Maryam of Bethlehem and consecrated souls.
Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified received special messages from Jesus that reveal the power of the Holy Spirit in souls, particularly in consecrated souls. Here is a request she received from our Lord Jesus, which applies to the whole Church:
"Whoever invokes the Holy Spirit, will look for me and find me. His conscience will be as delicate as a flower in the field. If the person is the father or mother of a family, peace will reign in his family, and his heart will be in peace in this world and in the next. He will not die in darkness, but in peace."
Here is the message intended for priests:  "I ardently desire that priests say a Mass each month in honor of the Holy Spirit. Whoever says that Mass or hears it will be honored by the Holy Spirit Himself. He will have light; he will have peace. He will cure the sick. He will awaken those who sleep."  Who among us does not long for light and peace!?
By an order of God, Satan had to reveal to Maryam his tactics: "When we ( evil spirits) lay siege to a soul consecrated to God, we begin by tempting her in little things.Triumphing over a soul who has pronounced the three bad words (meaning the 3 vows) is for us more than being the mayor of an entire city."  But Jesus said to Maryam, "If, in a city, even one completely perverted, I find one soul, a single soul who is faithful to her vows, I will save the entire city." (See PS1).

4. Consecration. The month of May is bathed in the grace of Our Lady, and for us it is the occasion to renew our consecration to her Immaculate Heart and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Isn't this an obvious urgency if we examine closely what direction the Western world is taking? It is no longer time to fool around.
In Fatima, Our Lady clearly explained the good fruits of consecration and the bad fruits in its absence. These prophecies, given during the 1st World War (1917) were fulfilled as we can verify one hundred years later. We have received in Fatima THE formula for peace of heart, peace in the family, and peace in the Nations! Not a magic formula, but much better! A formula that comes straight from Heaven; one that does not fail, unlike that of our politicians. For God is the only one who can pull us out of misery, the only one who defeats Satan and his horrible plans of destruction. In Fatima as in Medjugorje, Our Mother manages the Emergency Room and gives us the basic instructions:
- Recite the Rosary everyday to obtain peace in the world and the end of the war.
- Pray and offer sacrifices for the conversion of sinners.
- Consecrate oneself to her Immaculate Heart and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. (See PS2).

A person consecrated to God belongs to God in everything and adheres to his Word and his will in everything. This person no longer tries to "live his life" according to his own will, but he submits to his Creator whom he loves above all else and who gives him the highest degree of happiness. Today it is a demanding choice because it often means swimming against the tide of modern society.  But what deep inner peace we receive then!

° God tells us, "Narrow is the gate that leads to life, wide is the gate that leads to destruction", the world is lying in saying us, "Stay cool, do what you want, everybody will go to heaven anyway!"
° God tells us: Live my commandments and you will have life!  But the world says, "What commandments? No! We know how to be happy. Let's put God aside. And we'll call Him if we have a problem."
° St. Paul tells us, "The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life." (Rom 6:23). The world tells us, "But no, the wages of sin is no longer death! Sin as you want, and be like everyone else! It's better to be free and well accepted!"
° The Bible tells us that God created them, "man and woman", but the world says (and imposes its lie on us), "This is completely outdated, letus put 2 people of the same sex together; why follow the law of nature set by the Creator?" Etc.

5. Dilemma in a garage.  Here is a recent example of confusion, which happened just this week.  I was going to a garage to pick up our car. Five men were having coffee in the body shop where they work. They welcomed me in a friendly manner. I looked around, and on a wall, I saw two pictures. One was of the Blessed Mother holding the Child Jesus in her arms, and the other, less than two meters away, showed a half-naked woman in an erotic poses. I mentioned to the men that these two images didn't fit together!  This sexual image invites sinful thoughts, which cannot be associated with a picture of the Virgin Mary. They needed to choose whose side they were on.
Four of the men got the message and told me that they would remove the pornographic image, and would keep that of Mary. But the fifth man said to me, "I wish to keep that picture, because I like it, and there's nothing wrong with that".  "Let's not enter into a debate," I answered, "look into your heart, you know very well what I mean, and you are free to choose."
The pornographic picture was taken down by the other four and thrown out before my eyes, but not torn up.  I dare hope that it won't be replaced by the 5th man!

We have become so accustomed to confuse everything! We want God's blessing, his protection and his peace, while violating his 10 Words of life. We ask him for his help, but at the same time we push him aside and cause him to suffer greatly by nurturing certain sins that destroy us from the inside. This does not work! We can see the sad result of this!  We do cry out against some evil initiatives taken by our politicians, but let us not forget that in order to save our country and the world from ruin, we need saints!

If you want to become a saint, following this path that Mary has shown us for the past 32 years in Medjugorje, you will be most efficient in saving humanity, as it will shorten the time of trials.  If you choose not to be a saint and to rather follow the downward slope of the world... why not stop for 5 minutes, and think of the day when you will see in a bright light the full splendor of God's plan for you?!  Don't take the risk of telling yourself then, with infinite sadness:  "It's too late, I missed out!"
"My children!"Mary tells us, "Do not deviate from the way on which I am leading you. Do not recklessly walk into perdition!"

6. Vicka had to leave Medjugorje for some unspecified time. Last month she was pushed once again by a pilgrim and she ended up wounded. (See PS3)
Dearest Gospa, wethank you! Your words are clearer than cristal ! Please, give us the courage to live them without compromising!

For the moment the doctors do not plan on another operation, but she must undergo very delicate back-therapy that might last some time. So she will not be able to continue her marvelous welcoming of pilgrims in Medjugorje during the coming months, and we do not know how long her absence will last. We miss her a lot! But she remains with us, more than ever, with her heart and her ardent prayer! God is in charge, and we know that everything contributes to the good of those who love him.  In this ordeal, let us pray for Vicka, Mario and their two children!

Dear Family of Mary

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

(c)Mary TV 2013
Come, Holy Spirit!!!

J.M.J.
May 18, 2013

Dear Family of Mary!

On this last day of the Novena to the Holy Spirit let's consider two early messages, given by Our Lady to the visionaries in the little side chapel of St. James Church. The first message:

"The important thing is to pray to the Holy Spirit, so that He may descend on you. When one has Him, one has everything. People make a mistake when they turn only to the saints to request something." (Friday, October 21, 1983)

Clearly, Our Lady was guiding the young people and the parish to call down the Holy Spirit upon them. She couldn't make it any clearer. When one has the Holy Spirit, one has everything!!

Our Lady had firsthand proof of this statement. On the day of the Annunciation, the Holy Spirit descended upon her when she said "yes" to the plan of God:

And the angel said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.'  (Luke 1:35)

And from that moment on, she had everything! She had Jesus, alive inside her! Truly, Jesus is everything!

And the second message:

"Begin by calling on the Holy Spirit each day. The most important thing is to pray to the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit descends on earth, then everything becomes clear and everything is transformed." (Advent 1983)

Our Lady knows the powerful effects of the Holy Spirit. She experienced it with the Apostles on that day of Pentecost:

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."  (Acts 2: 1-4)

The Apostles had been frightened, defeated men after the Passion and Death of Jesus. And though Jesus had been with them for 40 days of Resurrected Glory, they still were hiding in the upper room after He ascended. It was not until the Holy Spirit came down upon them that they had the courage to witness to Jesus publicly. The Holy Spirit made everything clear for them and transformed them into the foundation of the Church! Wow!

So, we will enter the Feast of Pentecost tomorrow with great expectations! Mother Mary is with us to help us pray to the Holy Spirit and call Him down upon us.

Together let us pray:

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.

V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created.
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray.

O God, Who didst instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

On or near Pentecost, ask another Christian to lay hands on you (see Acts 19:6) and pray for you to receive the Holy Spirit. After receiving these prayers, thank the Holy Spirit for coming to you, go to Mass as often as possible, and share your faith in Jesus. Come, Holy Spirit!

UNHINDERED

"For two full years Paul stayed on in his rented lodgings, welcoming all who came to him. With full assurance, and without any hindrance whatever, he preached the reign of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ." -Acts 28:30-31

In its original Greek, the Acts of the Apostles ends with the word translated "without hindrance" (Acts 28:31). This seems an abrupt and less than grand finale. Moreover, it seems unusual for Luke to claim that Paul proclaimed God's kingdom "without hindrance" after Paul had been confined to a room for two years, under house arrest, with a soldier at the door (Acts 28:16).

Luke ends Acts by showing that there is no chaining God's word (2 Tm 2:9) and no stopping the Christian people. You can lock us up, but we'll still take the Gospel to the ends of the earth by world-changing intercession, mountain-moving faith, and enemy-converting redemptive suffering. You can kill us, but we will rise from the dead and be resurrection witnesses with even greater power.

The only thing that can stop us is us. Repent. Live in faith. Obey God. Receive the Spirit. Be His witness (Acts 1:8). Renew the face of the earth (Ps 104:30). Come, Holy Spirit of Pentecost! Come again! Come now! Alleluia!

Prayer: Father, may this be the greatest Pentecost.

Promise: "There are still many other things that Jesus did, yet if they were written about in detail, I doubt there would be room enough in the entire world to hold the books to record them." -Jn 21:25

Praise: Pope St. John I suffered imprisonment for love of truth and unity during which he ultimately died for his faith in Jesus.

PENTECOST AND THE POPE

"...Peter was to glorify God." -John 21:19

Jesus said that He would found His Church on the Rock, Peter. Jesus entrusted to Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven (Mt 16:18-19). Jesus has been consistent with that statement. In the last chapter of the four Gospels, Jesus asks Peter three times: "Do you love Me?" (see Jn 21:15-17) He chose Peter to be the preacher of Pentecost (Acts 2:14) and the first preacher to the Gentiles (Acts 10:5ff). Jesus anointed Peter with such healing power that the masses were healed merely by Peter's shadow falling on them (Acts 5:15-16).

Peter continues to be an important part of God's plan, especially through his successors, the Popes. The early Church needed Peter, and the present Church does as well. Peter was the leader of the first Pentecost. Do you think it will be different this Pentecost? Jesus is the same today as He was yesterday (Heb 13:8). His calls are irrevocable (Rm 11:29). Jesus doesn't change His plans; He continues them. Peter, the Pope, and Pentecost continue to go together.

To receive the Holy Spirit in fullness, listen to and obey the Pope, as the early Church listened to Peter at the first Christian Pentecost. Listen to the Pope about repentance, conversion, holiness, purity, lifestyle, birth control, family, and community. In obeying Peter's successors, you obey Jesus Who chose them (see Lk 10:16). Then you receive the Holy Spirit, Who is "given to those that obey" Jesus (Acts 5:32).

Father, may I love to be submissive to the authority You have established. Come, Holy Spirit!

"When Jesus had finished speaking He said to him, 'Follow Me.' " -Jn 21:19

"I do not pray for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their word." -John 17:20

When St. Paul was on trial before the Jewish Supreme Court, the Sanhedrin, he tricked his enemies into fighting each other so that he could get off the hook. However, Paul's stratagem backfired on him. The dispute between Paul's enemies grew so turbulent that the Roman "commander feared they would tear Paul to pieces. He therefore ordered his troops to go down and rescue Paul from their midst and take him back to headquarters" (Acts 23:10). That night, after Paul's plans had failed and he was sitting in jail, the Lord appeared to Paul and announced that Paul would be His witness in Rome, the center of the Western world (Acts 23:11). In our weakness, God's power reaches perfection (2 Cor 12:9).

On this seventh day of the Pentecost novena, we need to realize our weakness so that we will depend on and cry out for the power of the Holy Spirit (see Acts 1:8). When Jesus had ascended and His apostles were at their weakest, they received the Holy Spirit. Throughout history, Christians have received the Spirit when persecuted and even imprisoned for their faith in Jesus. The Lord has "singled out the weak of this world" to receive the Spirit and "to shame the strong" (1 Cor 1:27).

To receive the Spirit, choose the weakness of gospel poverty, persecution, obscurity, docility, simplicity, and sacrifice. Embrace the weakness of the cross (see 2 Cor 13:4), then receive the Spirit.

Jesus, without You I can do nothing (Jn 15:5). Come, Holy Spirit!

"I have given them the glory You gave Me that they may be one, as We are One - I living in them, You living in Me." -Jn 17:22-23
