Plotting on paper what it meant, and what Medjugorje still means in my life, is a difficult task. Because putting words into the action of God is complicated, I turn, and I find no words in the language of man to express the Love of God. To conjugate the human with the Divine is to mix poverty with Salvation and of this only Jesus Christ can speak to us. It’s putting my human misery together with your Love. I think this is a good phrase to describe what happened to me there. My human misery met with His Love, with His Kindness, with His Forgiveness … with him, with a God who loves me with madness. I met him through Mary.

I still have not assimilated that trip, what a torrent of graces I received! How many times now, in the difficulties, I cling to those moments. I like to review those days, received, received and received and I did not realize. Medjugorje is a mystery and I was focused on the secondary, Medjugorje is understood on my knees and I was on my heights. I was absorbed in my reasonings, in my doubts, in seeing signs. I was sent for work to investigate and I had read a lot about this phenomenon and I did not like anything about what was happening at Medjugorje ..  Until I went!

I was educated in the faith, thank God, although I had a youthful and agitated youth and something far away, I never stopped believing in God. A few years before the trip, I had already had my first conversion in the faith, when I made the trip I believed myself a first-rate Christian. He went to Mass every day, confessed to me weekly, prayed the Rosary every day … .etc. But, far from Jesus Christ, he was converted to works and not to God.

Describing the process within me seems impossible, but if I can say, convinced of it, that Maria called me and invited me to go. All I did was respond, and She took care of the rest. She took me to an encounter with her Son. The Virgin only wants to take us to her Son, She does not want protagonism. That is why Medjugorje is Cristocéntrico. The center of the village is the Parish, the center of the village is the Mass, are the confessional …… I was looking for other miracles, but these are the miracles that occur there. To all the pilgrims I have seen who reconcile with God through confession, and return to participate in the Eucharist to receive the Lord again after 2 years away, after 16, after 35 …… I have testimonies of all kinds . What a feast for the universal Church!

I have seen so many friends change their lives, with a sincere, real,, lasting conversion in years, I encourage everyone to go. Medjugorje is a gift, is to go to the house of the Mother. It is the people of the Virgin, so what to fear ?. She only wants our good, but our Good with capital letters, and that Good is her Son. When someone meets Jesus Christ, only joy and peace is possible. She prepares you to say yes to God, thanks to Mary I was able to welcome and respond to the call to the priesthood that had troubled me for so many years. There were 13 years of great struggles and say No to vocation. 20 days after the trip to Medjugorje I said yes to God and I saw clearly all the times that he had called me throughout my life. Mary prepares you for you to say yes to God. Yes, to form a family, yes, to the priestly vocation, yes, to consecrate yourself to him, yes to … .. She said the most important Yes in the history of mankind, Mary is your mother and will know how to do it. She wants you to count on God in every detail of your life, ask for help.

I recently saw a “Dennis The Menace” cartoon that has Dennis sitting next to his grandfather looking at a photo album, and observing wisely: “Ancestors are important . . . Without them, we’re nobody.”

Dennis has a point. So much of who we are and what we have is defined by our ancestors – parents, grandparents and even beyond that. And if it’s true in a general sense, it’s equally true for our identity as Catholics. All of the good things we have as Catholics have been handed down to us by those who have gone before us. That’s certainly part of my life’s story.

One of my prized personal possessions is a large, leather-bound Bible that belonged to my Great Grandfather, also Thomas Tobin, who lived from 1844-1923. I’m pleased to note that the Bible was well-used. And an obituary about my Grandfather, Michael Tobin, says that he was a “member of St. Agnes Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus and the Knights of St. George.” And from my parents I have a good number of Catholic keepsakes, including the little candle my Dad carried for his First Holy Communion.

I’m so grateful to my parents and grandparents! How different my life would be, how impoverished, if my ancestors hadn’t practiced the faith and handed it down to their family.

As a Catholic community we can say the same. All that we possess and cherish today – our churches and schools, our traditions and devotions, our endowments and organizations – we enjoy because our ancestors were strong and determined in their faith. They were extraordinarily generous. And they proudly transmitted the faith to their children.

It’s really sad that so many young people today are turning their backs on their spiritual heritage and abandoning the “faith of their fathers.” How many times have parents and grandparents shared with me, often with tears, how heartbroken they are that their children and grandchildren have left the Church and no longer practice the faith. And “heartbroken” is not too strong a word.

Dennis the Menace said, “Without our ancestors, we’re nobody.” And I would add, if we abandon the faith of our parents, we dishonor them and diminish ourselves. who inspired your practice of the faith?

Something to think about: Do you have some “ancestors,” family members, who were models of faith for you, who inspired your practice of the faith?

Dear Family of Mary!

November 25, 2000 "Dear children! Today when Heaven is near to you in a special way, I call you to prayer so that through prayer you place God in the first place. Little children, today I am near you and I bless each of you with my motherly blessing so that you have the strength and love for all the people you meet in your earthly life and that you can give God's love. I rejoice with you and I desire to tell you that your brother Slavko has been born into Heaven and intercedes for you. Thank you for having responded to my call."

We are approaching the 18th anniversary of Fr. Slavko's birth into eternal life! Fr. Slavko was one of Our Lady's beloved priests. He dedicated his entire life to helping the world get to know Our Lady and live her messages. He did a fantastic job, teaching us and leading us in prayer with the heart, in fasting with the heart, and in loving with the heart.

The anniversary is on November 24. I would like to dedicate my reflections this week to Fr. Slavko, by sharing some of the prayers and teachings he left us. Today I want to share one of the meditations for Eucharistic Adoration from his book "Adore My Son with your Heart". Fr. Slavko suggests these meditations to be prayed during Adoration over about an hour's time. He it was who established the format for Adoration in St. James Church. As we see even today, hearts are filled with the love of Jesus during those beautiful hours of Adoration in Medjugorje:

Come Lord Jesus

1) I adore You Jesus, I believe in You and I love You.

(Repeat this prayer quietly within yourself.)

2) You are here present. I believe this with all my heart and all my soul. Still I call Your name. Come Lord Jesus. Maranatha! Come I await You with love! Come, my heart welcomes you and rejoices in Your coming. Come, I wish my soul and my whole self to soar up to You. I wish with my whole life to be one call, one yearning. Just as a child yearns for his mother, may my soul and body yearn and cry out for You:

Come Lord Jesus, Maranatha!
(Repeat this invocation quietly within yourself."

3) Come Lord Jesus! My heart, now united to Mary, Your Mother, invites You. I wish to yearn together with her now in the same way that her heart longed for the Messiah, the Savior of her people, even though she did not know that she was to be his mother. I wish to experience together with her that same love and longing for You that feels like a burning within, just as her heart burned from the moment of Your conception in her womb up until Your Death and glorious Resurrection in Heaven. She invites me and instructs me:

May 15, 1986 "Dear children! Today I call you to give me your hearts, so that I can change it to be like mine. You are wondering, dear children, why you cannot respond to that which I am seeking from you. You are not able to because you have not given me your hearts so I can change them. You are talking but you are not doing. I call on you to do everything that I am telling you. That way I will be with you. Thank you for having responded to my call."

4) Thank You for the word which Saint John wrote in the book of Revelations;

"Do not be afraid; it is I, the first and the last; the Living One, I was dead and look, I am alive for ever and ever and I hold the keys of death and of Hades...The Spirit and the Bride say: 'Come!' Let everyone who listens answer, 'Come!' Then let all who are thirsty come; all who want it may have the water of life, and have it free. The one who attest these things says: I am indeed coming soon. Amen. 'Come, Lord Jesus!'" (Rev 1:17b-18, 22:17 and 20)

Amen, Come Lord Jesus!

5) Lord Jesus, you have said: "I am the light of the world, who follows me does not walk in darkness!" I welcome You because I believe that You are light, like the early rising sun, born to illuminate hearts and souls. I come before You and I open my heart and soul to You; so that You may enter into my heart as light, to dispel all darkness, to light up every corner of my soul, especially those corners where hurts have crept in, and where sin and bad habits have taken root, where darkness has made its abode. From the depths of my created self I cry out to You:

-Light of lights, Jesus, bathe my heart in Your light!

6) Lord Jesus come into our families! They need light. Parents need light that they may educate their children. Sisters and brothers need your light that they may live every moment together in faith and love. Little children and young people need your light that they may increasingly open themselves to You. Fill parent's hearts with a yearning for You so that it may spill over into the hearts of their children! You know Jesus how many families live in darkness. So many families are in the grasp of disorder and anxiety which result in conflicts. Love and reconciliation have died away within them. In the darkness of evil, many unborn lives have been taken, while those allowed to live suffer the lack of light which only love can bring into the heart of man.

(In silence think about your own families, about families you know and intercede for all families.)

7) Lord Jesus, You sent Your Church that it would be a light to the world, the city built on the hill-top, the lamp on the lampstand that shines for everyone to see. Thank You, Jesus, for your light that comes through the Church! May she remain faithful and watchful, as Your faithful bride0to-be, awaiting You in song and prayer in love and peace. May the Pope, the Bishops and Priests, and communities and orders within Your church together await You like the wise virgin until You, the spouse come and knock. Grant that Your Church in all corners of the earth continually sing songs of Your coming and in the strength of Your spirit speak out;

Come Lord Jesus, in Your Church and through Your Church into the world!

8) Lord Jesus, You are the light to illuminate all peoples. You bathe in light all those who sit in the shadow of death and darkness. I adore You and I welcome You. Come, Lord Jesus, into this world and dispel its darkness! There where there are wars, where there is injustice and hatred, where there is a spirit of violence and deception, shine there also! I acknowledge that my lack of light contributes to the darkness of this world. That's why not in front of You, I renounce all that is darkness within me, my sins and all that hinders Your coming to me. Jesus, for all who cannot, or who do not know how to, or who refuse to renounce darkness I want to pray in their names now so that all hearts will be open to Your coming to Your light

-Jesus, Light of all peoples, illuminate all peoples and nations!  

9) My Jesus, thank you for letting me invite You to come in the prayer of Adoration! Thank You because You hear my voice and You prepare my heart! May I bless and thank You with my life. May Your coming completely possess me so that I become brimful of Your light! Make me into a witness of Yours. Through me, enter my family, my community, the Church and the world! Make me into that city on the hilltop, that light which You speak about. Come, and shine within me, so that others may see and find You!

(In silence present to Jesus those for whom you especially wish to pray with prayers of blessing and healing.)

10) Blessing-

Lord Jesus, I believe in Your love for the sick and the disabled, those who are in sin and those who are far from You and those who do not know You. I believe even in Your love towards those who have let their bad habits distance themselves from You and who do not pray that You come. I believe in Your love even for those who have ended up under the influence of Satan, who have consciously offered up their lives in the service of evil. No matter what they do to run from You, You do not reject them. Extend Your hands over us now, and heal us, illuminate us, make us wise and fill us with the gifts of Your Holy Spirit. Touch every sick and dark corner of my life and of all lives. Be glorified! Draw all things unto Yourself! Come, there even where hearts are disillusioned, where they have been left alone, divorced from You and others. Bless us, You who live and reign world without end! Amen.

Church remains standing in deadliest California wildfire in history.

The California wildfire, called “Camp Fire.” is the most devastating wildfire in California history. The death toll is rising. Where is God in all this? St. Thomas Moore Church is one of the only structures left standing in the town of Paradise that has just been destroyed overnight.

The Virgin Mary appears!!! (Seven minutes into video) I have visited Medjugorje in 1991 & 1993. This place completely changed my life for the better. As a result, I embrace the Catholic faith with much love and conviction. I witnessed several things at this site. The spinning sun was daily and throughout the entire day, rosaries changing into gold, but the most impressive thing I experienced was the “ultimate love” that penetrated (I know this sounds odd) into every cell of my body, a love beyond comprehension, a love I have yet to experience from anyone in my life.

One person emailed a diatribe in an attempt to condemn Medjugorje. Such an email deserves a response, one with facts, one that provides info regarding the Vatican’s ongoing investigations, one with sound reason, one with faith, one that requires an open mind and heart. Fact: The Vatican, more specifically, JPII, for the ‘first time in church history’ removed the authority of the local Bishop to suggest any final pronouncements in favor or condemnation of Medjugorje. The local Bishop retains all other faculties with this one exception. The local Bishop(s) of Medjugorje never extended an invitation for the Holy See, the Supreme Pontiff, to visit Medjugorje in all of JPII’s 27 years as Pope.

The devil is alive and well. There are many postings that mislead the reader. Instead of the conflicts, and propaganda, people ought to focus on the realities of Medjugorje. More notable, the millions of conversions, and countless people returning to the faith, and numerous investigations of miraculous healings i.e. deaf, blind, lame, cancer, aids etc. I do not know how the devil would benefit from such conversions. Oh yes, the church ‘does’ approve pilgrimages. The prized site will soon be the most important Marian site on planet earth. To date, Medjugorje is the 2nd most visited Marian apparition site in church history. I respect the office of the Bishop. God appointed him as such, and for a reason. God has a plan for everyone. The current Bishop of Medjugorje does not believe in Fatima or Lourdes. No doubt he rejects his own place of interest. Working at a Diocese, I learned much about people’s personalities, attitudes, behaviors, differences of opinions, and everyday activities within an organization. Bishops are people too. We are blessed to have one of the most orthodox Bishops in America. Bishops are men, they are not infallible. What makes a Bishop? Answer, it is a priest promoted and there is no special “Bishop school” to attend. They are handpicked by the nuncio. The Bishop in Pueblo has visited Medjugorje and BELIEVES in it firmly! It is estimated, over 40,000 priests and 2000 Bishops have visited Medjugorje in the last 31 years. No small task, for something that is considered, by some, as just ‘ordinary’. Big Fact #2: The church has never condemned Medjugorje! The Mother of God once stated, what she first started in Fatima (in 1917) she will end in Medjugorje. What an interesting comment considering widespread apostasy in our modern society. Fruits: The lines of confessions are rather long in Medjugorje. This is a norm in Medjugorje. However, much of the world has almost forgotten this Sacrament. Recall what Jesus said, “You shall know them by their fruits.” People are returning to the church in record numbers in Medjugorje – like no other place on earth! In 1991, I waited in line literally eight hours, yes, 8 hours. There is an overwhelming amount of graces given to those who embrace Our Lady, Queen Peace in Medjugorje. In 1982, a message was given at Medjugorje to one of the seers. The BVM stated The Church would undertake a great trial. The devil was given extra power and permission to enter it for a period of 1 century. Sounds like the ecstasy of Pope Leo XIII? Personally, I think the 100 year influence started in 1917 AD, not in the year 1900AD or 1901AD, the beginning of the 20th Century. Our modern society strives to ‘get it quick’, we are a society comprised of non-thinkers, a society, for the most part, that does not pray. The Blessed Virgin Mary stresses praying, fasting, converting, attend daily mass, and to recite the rosary. If it takes 30+ years to complete the work of Our Lady — so be it. Avoid embracing a Burger King mentality, “This place has tested my threshold of patience….I have decided to omit these seers due to their longevity”. Wow, what if Our Lord took the same approach to each one of us? The more things change the more they remain the same. Medjugorje is by far, the most vital Marian site on planet earth. I anticipate the devil, the father of lies, the great deceiver, to continue his work in keeping people from listening and acting upon the messages of Medjugorje, messages that only mirror the Gospel. I suggest embracing truth, pray, virtue, Sacraments, and to live out Our Lady’s messages of Medjugorje. God love ya.   Source-Mystic Post

17 Things Jesus Revealed to St. Faustina About Divine Mercy

As a person, as a country, as a world, do we not need God’s mercy more and more in these times? For the sake of our souls, can we afford not to listen to what Jesus told us through St. Faustina about his mercy and what our response to is should be?
Benedict told us “It is a really central message for our time: Mercy as the force of God, as the divine limit against the evil of the world.”
Let’s remind ourselves right now. Or learn the highlights for the first time. Divine Mercy Sunday is the perfect day to start listening to what Jesus himself tells us:

(1) I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. Diary 699 [Note: confession does not have to be done on the Sunday itself. Beforehand is fine]

(2) Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My Mercy. —St. Faustina’s Diary 300

(3) Let all mankind recognize My unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it will come the day of justice. Diary 848

(4) He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice... Diary 1146

(5) Souls perish in spite of My bitter Passion. I am giving them the last hope of salvation; that is, the Feast of My Mercy. If they will not adore My mercy, they will perish for all eternity. Diary 965

(6) My Heart overflows with great mercy for souls, and especially for poor sinners. If only they could understand that I am the best of Fathers to them and that it is for them that the Blood and Water flowed from My Heart as from a fount overflowing with mercy. Diary 367

(7) These rays shield souls from the wrath of My Father. Happy is the one who will dwell in their shelter, for the just hand of God shall not lay hold of him. I desire that the first Sunday after Easter be the Feast of Mercy. Diary 299

(8) My daughter, write that the greater the misery of a soul, the greater its right to My mercy; [urge] all souls to trust in the unfathomable abyss of My mercy, because I want to save them all. Diary 1182

(9) The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My mercy. My mercy is confirmed in every work of My hands. He who trusts in My mercy will not perish, for all his affairs are Mine, and his enemies will be shattered at the base of My footstool. Diary 723

(10) [Let] the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy. Diary 1146

(11) I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My mercy. Diary 1109

(12) I desire trust from My creatures. Encourage souls to place great trust in My fathomless mercy. Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins than there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the unmeasurable depths of My mercy. (13) I demand the worship of My mercy through the solemn celebration of the Feast and through the veneration of the image which is painted. By means of this image I shall grant many graces to souls. It is to be a reminder of the demands of My mercy, because even the strongest faith is of no avail without works. Diary 742

(14) Tell [all people], My daughter, that I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other souls. Jesus, Diary 1074

(15) I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: "Jesus, I trust in You." Diary 327

(16) I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. I also promise victory over [its] enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own glory. Jesus, Diary 48

(17) Souls who spread the honor of My mercy I shield through their entire lives as a tender mother her infant, and at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the Merciful Savior. At that last hour, a soul has nothing with which to defend itself except My mercy. Happy is the soul that during its lifetime immersed itself in the Fountain of Mercy, because justice will have no hold on it. Diary 1075

Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed (All Soul's Day)

Dear Family of Mary!

Here is the November 2, 2018 message from Our Lady: 

Dear children! My motherly heart suffers as I am looking at my children who do not love the truth, those who are hiding it-as I look at my children who do not pray with their feelings and actions. I am sad as I am saying to my Son that many of my children no longer have faith, that they do not know Him-my Son.

That is why I call you, apostles of my love: you strive to look to the very depth in human hearts and there you are certain to find the little hidden treasure. To look in this way is mercy from the Heavenly Father. To seek the good even where there is the greatest evil-to strive to comprehend each other and not to judge-that is what my Son is asking of you. And I, as a mother, am calling you to listen to Him.

My children, the spirit is mightier than the flesh, and, carried by love and actions, it overcomes all obstacles. Do not forget: my Son has loved you and loves you. His love is with you and in you when you are one with Him. He is the light of the world and no one and nothing will be able to stop Him in the final glory.

Therefore, apostles of my love, do not be afraid to witness the truth. Witness it with enthusiasm, with works, with love, with your sacrifice, and, above all, in humility. Witness the truth to all those who have not come to know my Son. I will be alongside you. I will encourage you.

Witness the love which never ends because it comes from the Heavenly Father who is eternal and who offers eternity to all of my children. The Spirit of my Son will be alongside you.  Anew I am calling you, my children: pray for your shepherds, pray that the love of my Son may lead them. Thank you.
