Fr. Joe Whalen's grave, St.Francis Xavier Church Winooski, VT. In death as in life he always had a prayer basket of people to pray and intercede for. Many pilgrimage to his grave to ask for prayers. In WWll he served as 1st class Pharmacist mate on a submarine chaser (aka the "Splinter Fleet") they were undetectable wooden hulled ships that dropped bombs on German submarines in the Mediterranean and laid smoke screens for the gun boats. Right next to him is another wonderful priest, Fr. Jean Paul LaPlante, "Juice" he was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and for 28 years served as a Captain and Chaplain for the Vermont Civil Air Patrol. Two powerful intercessors for all of us!

Fr. Joseph Whalen was a La Salette missionary healing priest. His dramatic life story was a story of "how God writes straight with crooked lines!"
