GOOD NEWS FOR MEDJUGORJE

Archbishop Hoser - arriving in Medjugorje for the first time in February of 2017
June 1, 2018
St. Justin, Martyr
First Friday

Dear Family of Mary!

Today, the Parish of St. James announced some wonderful news! I share it here, as Fr. Marinko relayed it after the Evening Program at St. James:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today to all Parishioners, all Friends of Medjugorje and the Queen of Peace, today our Holy Father, Pope Francis, sent us good news! The Office of the Holy See, at noon on the Feast of Corpus Christi announced the following news:

On this day, the 31st of May, 2018, the Holy See has appointed Henrik Hoser, SAC, the retired Archbishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland) as Apostolic Visitor with a special role for the parish of Medjugorje for an indefinite time, and ad nutum Sanctae Sedis [with the approval of the Holy See]. At the specific request of the Holy See, his appointment is for pastoral ministry, a continuation of the mission of the Special Envoy of the Holy See for the Parish of Medjugorje, entrusted to Mgr. Hoser on February 11, 2017, and which he completed in the previous months.

The purpose of the mission of the Apostolic Visitor is to provide a firm and permanent accompaniment of the parish community in Medjugorje and the faithful who come on pilgrimage here, whose needs require special attention.

With all our heart we want to thank Pope Francis for such wonderful news. We want to say thank you. We thank the Lord; we thank the Queen of Peace. Dear Friends of Medjugorje and of the Queen of Peace, I know that your hearts are rejoicing, filled with joy. With great joy and respect, with faithfulness and loyalty, we are awaiting the coming now of the Apostolic Visitor with special authority, jurisdiction and role, Archbishop Hoser. We await him with joy!

Let us, brothers and sisters, with all the more enthusiasm and heart, try to live that which our Mother has been telling us. Let us be her extended hands of peace in the world. May the peace and love of God dwell in our hearts. May we become the carriers of that peace and love throughout the world. Amen (Fr. Marinko, Pastor of the Parish of Medjugorje, May 31, 2018)
This is wonderful news, shared on this Feast Day of the Visitation and the Feast of Corpus Christi as well! We can only respond to Fr. Marinko's call to be the extended hands of the Queen of Peace in the world, as we respond to Our Lady's call!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Father Peter Mary Rookey and his Miracle Prayer

Every now and then I learn about something and wonder: Why didn’t I know about this before?  Father Peter Mary Rookey falls into that category.  I learned about him after coming across the “Miracle Prayer,” written and promoted by him while he was alive. Although we cannot assume anyone is in heaven and unless they are canonized a saint, (and should still send up a prayer for them) it seems from  his life that he would be a powerful intercessor.

Born in Superior, Wisconsin, on October 12, 1916. Father Rookey  grew up in  a family of thirteen. When he was eight years old, he was blinded by a Fourth of July firework. Despite being told there was no cure for him, his sight gradually  improved. He credited that to his mother leading the family in praying the rosary each evening "until little Peter's eyesight returns."
Father Rookey was ordained a priest with the Servite seminary on May 17, 1941 at the Servite Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica in Chicago. He helped expand the Order to Ireland where he served from 1948 to 1953 as assistant master and then prior  Benburb Priory. He was fluent in seven languages and served as Assistant Master of Novices, at Mt. St. Philip in Granville, Wisconsin, and then as assistant pastor at Assumption Parish in Portland, Oregon.
Healing Begins
It was while in Ireland that the healing began. Blessing people who requested it after Mass, not an uncommon request, miraculous healings began to occur. Word spread, and more and more people came for his blessings.
TheChicago Tribune wrote about him in 1994. "’It was very humbling,’ Rookey says.  It appeared that many had experienced cures for life-threatening illnesses or injuries-unbeknownst to the young cleric. The priest's popularity did not escape his superiors' attention.”
The Tribune explained that the Church was cautious about all this attention and claims of miracles so by 1953 Rookey was assigned as assistant general of the Servite Order in Rome, putting his healing ministry on hold for more than three decades. “When asked how he felt about that, by the Tribune,  Rookey responded:  “I became a priest to be an obedient servant of God's will. I trust my superiors to make wise decisions about the use of my gifts."
During the late 1960s, after the Charismatic movement took hold and gained acceptance in the Church, Father Rookey's healing ministry became accepted and endorsed by the Church's hierarchy and his order. He became known internationally for miraculous healings and also for his life-changing Miracle Prayer and was the subject of three books. Father Rookey died in his sleep just short of his 98th birthday, on September 10, 2014.

The Miracle Prayer of Father Peter Mary Rookey
Lord Jesus, I come before you just as I am. I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In your name I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give you my entire self, Lord Jesus, now and forever. I invite you into my life, Jesus. I accept you as my Lord, God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul, and spirit. Come, Lord Jesus, cover me with your precious blood, and fill me with your Holy Spirit. I Love You, Lord Jesus. I Praise You, Jesus. I Thank You, Jesus. I shall follow you every day of my life. Amen.
Mary, Mother of Sorrows, Queen of Peace, St. Peregrine, the cancer saint, all you Angels and Saints, please help me. Amen.
Quotes from Father Rookey: “Say this prayer faithfully, no matter what you feel, when you come to the point where you sincerely mean each word, with all your heart, something good spiritually will happen to you. You will experience Jesus, and HE will change your whole life in a very special way. You will see.”
"We all have weaknesses that affect our body, mind, and spirit. But it is our will to overcome them that decides how we live. ‘With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible,’” (Mt 19:26).

Healed in Medjugorje

Healed in Medjugorje through the intercession of Our Lady, the Queen of Peace

date: 23.05.2018.
May is always a special month in Medjugorje, the month of Mary and many pilgrims decide to come to Medjugorje in this time. Our journalists had opportunity to speak to one pilgrim from Columbia who came here for the second time. This time, she came to thank the Queen of Peace for her healing. This is her story: “My name is Maria Fernanda Trejos, and I come from Columbia. I am a mother of two girls and nine years ago I began to feel pain in the lower part of my back and I visited many doctors who gave me various diagnosis, at the end I was told I needed to have the surgery. It was to be one simple and quick surgery, but everything got more complicated. They placed one metal screw inside my back, but the head of this screw broke and it could not be removed at all. The pain was getting stronger each day, I was not able to walk or to function normally. I heard about Medjugorje, read many books about this place and at the end, I decided to come here. I came here for the first time last year and I had a great desire for confession. Each day I was looking for a priest, but I was not able to confess at all. I was angry at God, I really yearned for this sacrament. Finally, on my last day, I was able to find a priest who spoke Spanish and when I began confession, I realised that two of us have a similar diagnosis. After a while, two of us agreed to offer up our pain to God for all those who were tired and sick and do not know about God. A month after I returned home, I noticed I was able to do all, to walk, to kneel, to do things around my house. Glory to dear God! I went to the doctor for exam and after all tests were done, a doctor asked me what happened in Medjugorje as I was completely healthy. The screws that were causing me pain and problems looked now as if they had a shape of the rosary. I was healed”, said Maria Fernanda Trejos from Columbia. Our Lady, thank you!

In Memory of Fr. Joe Whalen

s
Fr. Joe Whalen's grave, St.Francis Xavier Church Winooski, VT. In death as in life he always had a prayer basket of people to pray and intercede for. Many pilgrimage to his grave to ask for prayers. In WWll he served as 1st class Pharmacist mate on a submarine chaser (aka the "Splinter Fleet") they were undetectable wooden hulled ships that dropped bombs on German submarines in the Mediterranean and laid smoke screens for the gun boats. Right next to him is another wonderful priest, Fr. Jean Paul LaPlante, "Juice" he was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and for 28 years served as a Captain and Chaplain for the Vermont Civil Air Patrol. Two powerful intercessors for all of us!
Fr. Whalen's international St. Raphael oil ministry continues and ships to every state and 104 countries. www.straphaeloil.com

The Final and Mother of All Battles

The Final and Mother of All Battles

Playing out in many families in America seems to be some sort of crisis, or at least a dysfunction. What we are witnessing today is the manifestation of several generations of Americans with at least half the population trying to push a world-view, which voids the presence of God. The fruit of that thinking is what we are watching today in real time on television, schoolrooms, and all forms of media. At the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, when God was brought up as a party platform, more than half of the capacity filled arena booed God off stage.
The Illinois State Senate recently passed a bill legalizing medical marijuana on the grounds of elementary and middle school ground. One doesn’t need to be a PhD in sociology to see where this is headed. All that is needed for the bill to become law is the signature of the governor. Common sense is not commonly found.
Everything seems to be percolating towards an event. What that is no one seems to know for sure, but nonetheless, people are anxious. It is now obvious the baby boomers have lived beyond their means with a Federal Reserve that prints money out of thin air enabling a life style in its twilight.
But, the battle inside the family and what constitutes a family is larger than all other battles put together. Why? When a family loses its moral structure, everything important is lost. Sociologists and historians agree an intact nuclear family is the glue of all societies. The rock of all civilization is a strong family. Studies have clearly shown that strong marriages create emotionally healthy motivated children who grow up to become well-adjusted adults who themselves marry and have strong families.
If Satan wanted to destroy all of mankind, it would make sense that he would go to the heart of God’s creation. Under the guidance of Saint John Paul II, the Church saw the establishment of the Pontifical Institute for the Studies on Marriage and the Family. Pope John Paul II said marriage was the bedrock of civilization, expressing these views early in his pontificate with his writings on The Theology of the Body. This was an area where he had primary interest since his canoe and camping trips with youth while a young priest in Poland. Cardinal Carlo Caffarra of Bologna was involved with this new Institute. Cardinal Caffara wrote Sister Lucy of Fatima asking for her prayers on the Institute not really expecting an answer back.
In 2008, what she said to Cardinal Caffarra became known through the Institute archives and the correspondence he had with Sister Lucy of Fatima. Sister Lucy wrote back, “The final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family. Don’t be afraid. Anyone who operates for the sanctity of marriage will always be contended and opposed in every way because this is the decisive issue. However, Our Lady has already crushed its head.”
Here Sister Lucy is speaking of Revelation, “And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery…” (12:1). It is the Blessed Mother who crushes the head of the serpent. Something immediately prior to Revelation 12:1 is Revelation 11:19. “Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple; and there were flashes of lightening, loud noise, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.”
Just prior to the woman clothed with the sun appearing is chaos in the world. As the Ark of the New Covenant, it will be the actions of Our Lady that crush the head of the serpent. Sister Lucy is saying it is a fait d’accompli – it is already done. The chaos we are seeing around us shows that Satan knows his time is short and is doing everything possible to disrupt God’s creation. Even in previous pagan civilizations, homosexuality was never seen as normal behavior. However, we see an assault like never before through every social medium available to normalize this behavior. Looking back, Humanae Vitae was prophetic when one looks at the abuse to natural law alone.
A seasoned OB/GYN will tell you what happens before a birth. First, the woman just wants to birth the child and be done with it. After nine beautiful months, she is ready and wants to give birth. Second, the woman about to give birth is in extreme discomfort. The pain is excruciating with the birth pangs. Pangs of birth where the pain of delivery confirms the sin of Adam, “Woman will have pain in childbirth.” Third, while a woman is pushing and grunting, she may wonder if she could die. There is a fear of death that she may not be able to accomplish this. She is the only one who can see this through. There is often yelling, screaming, apprehension, and exhaustion. When the child is born, it is as if the pain was never there. It is forgotten as she holds her newborn. In a moment, the agony turns to ecstasy.
We are presently witnessing the dawn and birth of a New Era, The New Times, The Fullness of Time, a New Jerusalem, or as Saint John Paul II said, a New Springtime, with the attendant pain prior to a birth of a child. The confusion and lack of discipline we see in the Church and culture today is systemic chaos. Before the child arrives is a time of uncertainty and normal human anxiety because the old and familiar is being swept away, and the new is on the horizon. Major prophecy and church approved apparitions sites are pointing to this.  Cardinal Raymond Burke and several other leading cardinals and bishops have said there are many events pointing to the fact that we may be living in the days spoken of in Scripture. The Blessed Mother is saying those proclaiming the Word of God are now the Apostles of the Last Times. Saint Louis de Montfort said it will be Marian lay people who will carry the Church through the challenges it faces. Has any battle ever been bigger?
*Our times are unique.   Cardinal Karol Wojtyla (Saint John Paul II) gave an address at the Eucharistic Congress in 1976 in Philadelphia for the Bicentennial Celebration of the Unites States and said:
“We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think that the wide circle of the American society, or the wide circle of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-church, between the gospel and the anti-gospel. The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God’s plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously…”
This was said over forty years ago, and it appears the confluence of events has risen to a fever pitch with Satan knowing his time is short. Thus we see the pain around us. In the Church we see a progressive element seeking to change the words of Jesus on marriage and family based upon the gospel narrative. Moses under pressure from the people softened and watered down this issue as well while the chosen Hebrew people slowly marched into the land of milk and honey complaining about this teaching of Yahweh while in the desert. Jesus cleared this up in Matthew 19 and Mark 10. What was supposed to be an 11-day journey, took 40 years due to disobedience. Scripture is not gray on these subjects and all the spin and Google analytics manipulation in the world can’t change the words of Jesus.
This is the battle of all battles in our midst — marriage and family. Sister Lucia dos Santos of Fatima articulated her prophetic utterance on what we would see for these times and she was correct.
To end on a hopeful note: If you are looking to turn things around, start with the most basic of all by keeping the Sabbath Holy. Keep Sunday for worship, rest, family meals, and no manual labor if possible; Sunday was not designed by God as a day for running errands.
Jesus, I Trust in You

A message from Our Lady of Medjugorje

November 02, 2014
"Dear children, I am with you with the blessing of my Son, with you who love me and who strive to follow me. I also desire to be with you who do not accept me. To all of you I am opening my heart full of love and I am blessing you with my motherly hands. I am a mother who understands you. I lived your life and lived through your sufferings and joys. You who are living in pain understand my pain and suffering because of those of my children who do not permit the light of my Son to illuminate them; those of my children who are living in darkness. This is why I need you - you who have been illuminated by the light and have comprehended the truth. I am calling you to adore my Son so that your soul may grow and reach true spirituality. My apostles, it is then that you will be able to help me. To help me means to pray for those who have not come to know the love of my Son. In praying for them you are showing to my Son that you love Him and follow Him. My Son promised me that evil will never win, because you, the souls of the just, are here; you who strive to say your prayers with the heart; you who offer your pain and suffering to my Son; you who comprehend that life is only a blink; you who yearn for the Kingdom of Heaven. All of this makes you my apostles and leads you towards the victory of my heart. Therefore, my children, purify your hearts and adore my Son. Thank you."

Holy Spirit is present and active for those in the Charismatic Movement

It was a moment like any other in any Catholic Mass anywhere in the world: the sacred Host was elevated for adoration after the celebrant pronounced the words of consecration. But in place of the stillness and silence that usually follows, the worshippers’ hands lifted or extended toward the altar and a swell of voices rose through the pews – each voice uttering different sounds, not a language, yet with a strangely unified rhythm that came to an end as it had begun, simultaneously and of its own accord.
The same thing happened when the chalice was raised, and then again after the concluding doxology just before the Great Amen.
It’s a phenomenon known as “speaking in tongues” — uttering sounds with no correlation to any known language but believed to be a special charism of the Holy Spirit — and it is par for the course at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Providence. Though this took place during the parish’s Tuesday evening Spanish-language Charismatic prayer group, it occurs at every Mass, said pastor Father Jaime Garcia.
“Everybody’s in the same Spirit,” he said. “It’s easy for us as a community to pray in tongues. It’s the same thing the Apostles did at the beginning when the Spirit descended. Whichever way the Holy Spirit’s moving, we just follow it.”
Mass was followed by a healing service demonstrating more characteristics of Charismatic worship. People who came forward for prayer for themselves or others were anointed with oil blessed by Father Garcia before the Mass. As the large Bethany Choir praise band repeatedly chanted “Santo Spirito,” some who were prayed over fell down and lay on the floor for some minutes in a phenomenon known as “resting in the Spirit.”
“We just trust the Spirit,” Father Garcia said. “The Spirit moves in different ways, in different persons. God controls them. We don’t know what’s going on, we just let them rest and God is doing his job.”
The Charismatic Movement, or Charismatic Renewal, gripped the Catholic Church in the 1960s, kickstarted by Catholic professors Ralph Keifer and William Storey of Duquesne, a Catholic university in Pittsburgh. Keifer and Storey had both read the books “They Speak with Other Tongues” by John Sherill, and “The Cross and the Switchblade” by David Wilkerson with the same John Sherill and his wife Elizabeth as co-authors. The books, both written by Pentecostal Protestants, contained accounts of lives transformed through direct, personal encounter with the Holy Spirit manifested by mystical phenomena such as tongues and modern-day prophecies.
During a meeting of Duquesne’s Chi Rho Scripture Study in 1967, Keifer, intrigued by the books, prayed to receive the Holy Spirit and began “speaking in tongues” – the same kind of ecstatic speech heard at St. Charles – when others in the group prayed and laid hands on him. This is perhaps fitting, since Duquesne’s full name is Duquesne University of the Holy Spirit.
From that small beginning, a movement spread to Notre Dame and Michigan State universities through campus Newman Centers, then to parishes around the country and around the world.
Father Garcia recalled becoming attracted to the movement by attending a Life in the Spirit Seminar, a series of seven spiritual workshops designed to bring Catholics into a direct encounter with the Holy Spirit. The seminars began in the late 1960s and continue to be offered today.
The word “charismatic” comes from the Greek word “charismata,” which means “gifts” or “graces.” Charismatic worship focuses on receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit, including the traditional seven listed in Isaiah 11:2-3: wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge and piety; but adding to these prophecy, healing and “speaking in tongues.”
Some maintain that Saint Paul himself was referring to this phenomenon when he wrote of “mysterious utterances” in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14. Both Protestants and Catholics who embrace forms of charismatic prayer believe that glossolalia is a sign of the Holy Spirit’s presence.
But Father Garcia said that other gifts, such as prophecy, also signify the outpouring of charisms. The Catechism of the Catholic Church identifies both the gift of tongues and the gift of prophecy as “extraordinary” charisms which are “at the service of charity which builds up the Church” (CCC no. 2003).Other characteristics of Charismatic worship include raising hands palms upward or outward in prayer and spontaneous vocal praise.
Charismatic prayer groups often have a similar structure, consisting of contemporary praise and worship music, a brief teaching by a group member, a sharing of faith testimonies and Charismatic gifts including prophecies, and intercessory prayer. Some begin with Mass or group recitation of the rosary.
The movement landed in Rhode Island at Holy Ghost Church in Providence in the late 1960s, and got a significant boost from Father John “Jake” Randall while he served as assistant pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in 1971.
“It drew hungry people together, people hungry for God,” said Barbara Wright, a trustee of St. Patrick’s who has been involved in the Charismatic Movement since Father Randall introduced it to the congregation. “It was the most beautiful thing. We developed a hunger to grow into Christ.”
Father Randall asked then-Bishop Louis E. Gelineau if the Charismatic Movement could be utilized to revitalize St. Patrick’s when construction of the overpass near the State House dislocated many parishioners. The bishop agreed, and the movement was brought to St. Patrick’s in 1971.
“The Charismatic Movement saved this parish,” said Wright, adding that “people from all over the world came to St. Patrick’s” because of it.
Father Randall became pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Providence in 1978, bringing the movement with him and leaving that legacy at both parishes to this day in the form of English- and Spanish-language Charismatic prayer groups that meet weekly throughout the year. After Father Randall’s death in 2011 at the age of 82, the English-speaking group dwindled, but the Latino community remained and increased under Father Garcia.
The movement hasn’t been universally embraced throughout the Church. Because of its Protestant roots, the Catholic movement has sometimes been referred to as “Pentecostal Catholicism.” Its critics accuse the movement of Protestantizing the Catholic faith, focusing on high-octane emotion and appearing to downplay the receiving of the Holy Spirit in baptism and confirmation with an implicit claim that believers must seek more of the Spirit than they received in these sacraments.
But those in the movement say the Holy Spirit is truly present and active, and that seeking an additional outpouring of the Spirit is a way of accessing the graces conferred in those sacraments, rather than replacing them.
“It was real,” said St. Patrick’s Charismatic prayer group member Walter Burke, who entered the movement in 1969. “We listened to the Spirit of God. I haven’t seen it in a long time, but there was a real power.”
Group member Jim Collard had grown up Catholic, but had drifted from the church by his early 40s. When a friend invited him to a Charismatic prayer meeting, Collard was “baptized in the Holy Spirit, and that’s when life began to change,” he said.
“It’s one thing to have it up here,” he said, pointing to his head, “and another having it down here” — pointing to his heart.
Papal acknowledgment has been given to the movement by popes Paul VI (1975) and John Paul II (1979), with Pope Benedict XVI giving it positive remarks and Pope Francis meeting personally with Charismatic leaders in 2014.
Father Garcia has only one thing to say about the movement’s detractors: “They have the right to think like that, because they haven’t experienced it.”
St. Patrick’s English-language Charismatic group meets every Thursday at 7:30 p.m., while the parish’s Spanish-language group meets on Fridays at 7 p.m. At St. Charles, the Spanish-speaking community gathers every Tuesday at 7 p.m. and the English-language group on Thursdays at 7 p.m.    http://www.thericatholic.com/

Our Lady spoke about the guidance of the Holy Spirit:

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017
May 17, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!

Today we call upon the Holy Spirit to be our Guide. Jesus called the Spirit the Paraclete, which can be translated "The one who accompanies..." I like this idea. The Holy Spirit is so gentle and loving that we might not even realize He is with us. But He comes to guide us into holiness and God's plan for us, if we will let Him. Our Lady lived a life of complete union with the Holy Spirit and so she knows how He operates. She wants us to be led by the Spirit too.

Our Lady spoke about the guidance of the Holy Spirit:

"Dear children! Today I call you, through prayer and sacrifice, to prepare yourselves for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Little children, this is a time of grace and so, again, I call you to decide for God the Creator. Allow Him to transform and change you. May your heart be prepared to listen to, and live, everything which the Holy Spirit has in His plan for each of you. Little children, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you on the way of truth and salvation towards eternal life. Thank you for having responded to my call." (May 25, 1998)

And St. Paul also lived by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He wrote:

But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him," God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For what person knows a man's thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit. (1 Cor 2: 9-13)

Cardinal John Henry Newman wrote a famous poem about the guidance of the Holy Spirit:

Cardinal John Henry Newman (1801-1890)  - Lead, Kindly Light

Lead, kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom,
Lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home-
Lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene-one step enough for me.

I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou
Shouldst lead me on.
I loved to choose and see my path; but now,
Lead Thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will: remember not past years.

So long Thy power hath blessed me, sure it still
Will lead me on,
O'er moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, till
The night is gone;
And with the morn those angel faces smile
Which I have loved long since, and lost awhile.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Prayer:

O Holy Spirit,
Uncreated Love of the Ever-blessed Trinity,
you are living Water and living Fire.
Fill my heart with the streams of your grace,
and make it clean before you.
Fill my heart with the fire of your love,
and burn up all the dross in it,
that it may be bright in your eyes.
Lord Jesus, let your Holy Spirit
dwell ever more and more in my heart.
Amen

We are all called to be evangelizers

FOR THOSE WHO WILL DIE UNPREPARED…

As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, ‘Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of people.’ Immediately they left their nets and followed him. (Matthew 4:18-20)
Being “fishers of people” can take many forms. One does not have to be a vowed religious to be a fisher of people. We are all called to be evangelizers. We can evangelize with our words, our actions, and our prayers. We can evangelize the living, but we can also work for the salvation of those who have already passed, the holy souls in purgatory, or for those who will die suddenly and unprepared, and it seems the numbers of those increase daily.
For a long time now, I have felt called to pray for those who will die unprepared. In 2007 I had a dream* in which I was in a car by the seashore. Suddenly the sea started to rise very quickly. Many people were unprepared. I saw that many of the unprepared were famous people. They were trapped by the rising water and drowned. Then a great tsunami rose and rushed towards us. We could not escape it but I felt that we had a better chance of surviving if we stayed in our car, thinking that the car could take the pounding better than we could and we might escape with our lives.
I felt afterwards that this dream was a call to pray for those whose hearts are spiritually unprepared and who are in grave spiritual danger. Our “vehicle of safety” is the Church. It will be battered by upcoming events, but we are far safer within it than we would be outside of it.
Just before Christmas 2016 I had another dream. I was looking out over the harbor and saw a large cruise ship being towed into port by a tug. I thought, “That’s unusual. We don’t usually get cruise ships here.” After it docked I went to see it. There was absolutely no sign of life on it or around it. After waking I felt the ship represented death, and that it was waiting to be filled.
I feel that both dreams are calls to pray for those who may die suddenly and unprepared. Certainly, the times we are in has seemed to make this more urgent than ever, as sporadic and unpredictable outbreaks of terrorism, war, and disaster threaten people everywhere.
Do not let this fill you with dread. God does not call us to prayer without a promise of hope attached. Instead, be filled with the firm belief that God will hear your prayers for souls and use your sacrifices to save many who may be lost without them. Death is hard for those left behind, but the real tragedy occurs when souls are lost to eternity. Offering prayers for souls is one way that we can be a sure sign of hope for others. I encourage all of us to step up our efforts.
The following prayer has been around a long time. I pray it daily at the end of my Divine Mercy chaplet.
“Merciful Jesus, lover of souls, we beseech you by the agony of your most Sacred Heart and by the sorrows of your Immaculate Mother, to wash clean in your blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their final agony, but especially those on their way to eternal damnation and who are to die this day. Heart of Jesus, who suffered death’s agony, have mercy on these poor souls. Amen.”
We are a people of hope and our God of hope has given us powerful weapons against the culture of death, one of the greatest of which is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We know we can trust Jesus and believe in the promise he made to St. Faustina:
“At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same.” (Diary, 811)
“My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you. It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet. … Write that when they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Savior.” (Diary, 1541).
God’s mercy is unimaginable! Even more so in that he uses weak sinners as his instruments of mercy on earth. Just as St. Faustina was often taken in spirit to the side of dying souls so she could pray the chaplet in their presence, in the Divine Will we can ask for the same grace, for nothing is impossible for God. “Jesus, in the Divine Will, take me into the presence of those in most dire need of your mercy as I pray this chaplet…”
God is calling us to participate in his ministry of salvation. May our Blessed Mother guide us and help us in the battle for the souls of her beloved children.
O my Jesus, I love you, I trust you, I surrender myself to you. Please take care of everything and everyone in my spiritual territory. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you. Save souls!

Dear Family of Mary!

The message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace for May 2nd, 2018 (through Mirjana):

Dear children,
All that my Son, who is the light of love, has done and does, He has done out of love. Also you, my children, when you live in love and love your neighbors, you are doing the will of my Son. Apostles of my love, make yourselves little; open your pure hearts to my Son so that He can work through you. With the help of faith, be filled with love.

But, my children, do not forget that the Eucharist is the heart of faith. This is my Son who feeds you with His Body and strengthens you with His Blood. This is a miracle of love: my Son who always comes anew, alive, to bring life back to souls.

My children, by living in love you are doing the will of my Son and He lives in you. My children, my motherly desire is for you to always love Him more, because He is calling you with His love. He is giving you love so that you may spread it to all those around you. As a mother, through His love, I am with you to speak the words of love and hope to you-to speak to you the eternal words that are victorious over time and death-so as to call you to be my apostles of love. Thank you.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
