Our Lady in her messages at Medjugorje tells us,- Pray for the Holy Spirit to descend upon you. When you have the Holy Spirit, You have everything.

~Holy Spirit Come~

Jesus said to her, "Believe me, woman, the time will come when people will not worship the Father either on this mountain or in Jerusalem. (...) God is Spirit, and only by the power of his Spirit can people worship Him as He really is." John 4:21,24

The most important thing in the spiritual life is to ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, the peace will be established. When that occurs, everything changes around you. Our Lady of Medjugorie, October, 1984. Words from Heaven, P.66.

Pray to the Holy Spirit for enlightenment. Our Lady of Medjugorie, November 8, 1984. Words from Heaven, P.66.

Have them pray also for the gift of the Holy Spirit so that all those who come here will feel the presence of God. Our Lady of Medjugorie, June 3, 1983. Words from Heaven, P.145.

The important thing is to pray to the Holy Spirit so that He may descend on you. When one has Him, one has everything. People make a mistake when they turn only to the saints to request something. Our Lady of Medjugorie, October 21, 1983. Words from Heaven, P. 150.
.
Begin by calling on the Holy Spirit each day. The most important thing is to pray to the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit descends on earth, then everything becomes clear and everything is transformed. Our Lady of Medjugorie, Advent, 1983. Words from Heaven, P.150.
.
A message to you and to all those who love me: Dear children, pray unceasingly and ask the Holy Spirit to inspire you always. In everything you ask, in everything that you do, look for the will of God. Live according to your convictions and respect others. Our Lady of Medjugorie, October 13, 1984. Words from Heaven, P.158.
.
The most important thing in the spiritual life is to ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, then peace will be established. When that occurs, everything changes around you. Things will change. Our Lady of Medjugorie, October 1984, Words from Heaven, P.159.

I invite you to open yourselves to God by means of prayer so the Holy Spirit may begin to work miracles in you and through you. (…) pray, pray, pray and do that which the Holy Spirit inspires you. (…). Our Lady of Medjugorie, May 25, 1993. Words from Heaven, P.271.

Abandon yourselves to the Spirit for Him to renew you. May prayer renew your bodies, your souls, your hearts. Don't let your bodies be weak. (…). Our Lady of Medjugorie, May 5, 1989. Words from Heaven, P.296.

The family has to pray together. The Holy Spirit wants to be present in the families. (…) The Holy Spirit comes through prayer. That is why, pray and allow the Holy Spirit to renew you, to renew today's family. (…) Our Lady of Medjugorie, July 3, 1989. Words from Heaven, P.297.

Fast on bread and water before every feast, and prepare yourselves through prayer. (…) Fast once a week on bread and water in honor of the Holy Spirit outside of Friday. (…). Our Lady of Medjugorie, before December 15, 1982. Words from Heaven, P.340.

Be preoccupied with only the essentials. Let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit in depth, then your work will go well. Do not hurry. Let yourself be guided and you will see that everything will be accomplished well. Our Lady of Medjugorie, July 4, 1983. Words from Heaven, P.345.
.
The one whom God has sent speaks God's words, because God gives him the fullness of his Spirit. John 3:34
.
As the scripture says, "Whoever believes in me, streams of life-giving water will pour out of his heart." Jesus said this about the Spirit (...) John 7:38
The Helper will come - the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God and who comes from the Father.  He will lead you into all the truth.

GUILTY AS CHARGED?

" 'This fellow,' they charged, 'is influencing people to worship God...' " -Acts 18:13

Paul was dragged into court and charged with "influencing people to worship God" (Acts 18:13). That's fantastic! What a marvelous "blemish" to have on your criminal record, personnel file, or reputation!
Undoubtedly the Corinthian Jews were ready to produce any number of witnesses who could testify before the court about Paul's influence in their worship of God (see Acts 18:4, 5, 8). Paul left behind a solid trail of evidence, available for all to see (see 2 Cor 3:2). He was guilty as charged.

If you were charged with such a "crime," could your accusers produce any evidence against you? Would there be people now worshipping God, receiving the Holy Spirit, going to Mass, repenting of sin, or working for justice because of your influence? Hopefully, your accusers would find plenty of these people who could provide the evidence to convict you.

Today is the first day of the Pentecost novena, nine days of prayer preparing to receive the Holy Spirit in new ways on Pentecost Sunday. May our reception of the Holy Spirit this Pentecost have life-changing and world-shaking ramifications.  Come, Holy Spirit!

Father, use me to bring many people to worship You in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:24). May they in turn lead many others to likewise worship You.

"The Lord said to Paul: 'Do not be afraid. Go on speaking and do not be silenced, for I am with you.' " -Acts 18:9-10

~MESSAGES FROM OUR LADY~

"Dear children! You are not conscious of the messages which God is sending you through me. He is giving you great graces and you do not comprehend them. Pray to the Holy Spirit for enlightenment. If you only knew how great are the graces God is granting you, you would be praying without ceasing. Thank you for having responded to my call. Medjugorje (November 8, 1984)
.
"Dear children! You are absorbed with material things, but in the material you lose everything that God wishes to give you. I call you, dear children, to pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are necessary for you now in order to be able to give witness to my presence here and to all that I am giving you. Dear children, let go to me so I can lead you completely. Don't be absorbed with material things. Thank you for having responded to my call." (April 17, 1986)
.
We pray for the Light of the Holy Spirit to shine into our hearts. Our Lady asks in this message of 1984 that we pray for enlightenment from the Holy Spirit, so that we can comprehend the great graces we are being given in these days. Light! O, Lord, be our Light!

The Ascension of the Lord

The Ascension of the Lord
The Ascension of the Lord
May 17, 2012
.
Dear Family of Mary!
.
"Dear children! Tonight I wish to tell you during the days of this novena to pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on your families and on your parish. Pray, and you shall not regret it. God will give you gifts by which you will glorify Him till the end of your life on this earth. Thank you for having responded to my call." (June 2, 1984)
.
Today is the Ascension of Jesus into heaven. Imagine the joy in heaven when He came, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity! Imagine the wonder, that God could be incarnate, and take His seat at the right hand of the Father! This is what satan could not abide, the very thing he hated and rebelled against. Oh Jesus, we are so proud of You! So grateful to You! So amazed at You!
And imagine the apostles and disciples gazing up into the sky as Jesus rises. Imagine their grief, their feelings of loss, their emptiness. At that time, the presence of Our Lady must have been their only consolation. She remained with them. She was with them. She went back to the Upper Room with them, to pray and to wait for the Holy Spirit, as Jesus told them to do. Her presence was vital for the infant Church at that moment. She was their physical touch with their Lord.
We are no different than the apostles and disciples. Our Lady is with us in our need, just as she was with them. She is with us. And so we can pray and wait with her, just as they did. In this novena time before Pentecost, we can pray and wait with Mary. She will help us to prepare for His coming, the Holy Spirit, our Paraclete.
Together, let's pray the Novena to the Holy Spirit. It begins tomorrow, Friday, May 18, and will end on Saturday, May 27. I have found novena prayers on the EWTN website that we can use. And we will meditate on Our Lady's messages as well. Here is the foreword to the Novena published by EWTN:
.
The novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and love so sorely needed by every Christian. (http://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/pentecost/seven_tx.htm )

As Our Lady says in the message above, "Pray, and you shall not regret it. God will give you gifts by which you will glorify Him till the end of your life on this earth." The Holy Spirit is really important. He is not just a side note in the Christian life. He is the power of the Christian life. He is necessary. We cannot glorify God without Him. The Spirit moves us, fills us, trains us, teaches us, anoints us, empowers us, forms us, delights us, fills us with joy, makes us fruitful, just as He did Mary! We need Him. Our Lady knows that. And that is why she will pray with us as she did the apostles and disciples in the Upper Room. She will be very near as we pray. This is for her a delight!

So, as we await Pentecost, let us pray....
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Pope Benedict--The Spirit, Light of Prayer

"Saint Paul's letters show us the rich variety of his own prayer, which embraces thanksgiving, praise, petition and intercession", said Pope Benedict XVI this Wednesday as he continued his catechesis dedicated to prayer in the early Church, this week focusing on the Letters of the Apostle to the Gentiles. "For Paul, prayer is above all the work of the Holy Spirit within our hearts, the fruit of God's presence within us. The Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness, teaching us to pray to the Father through the Son. In the eighth chapter of the Letter to the Romans, Paul tells us that the Spirit intercedes for us, unites us to Christ and enables us to call God our Father. In our prayer, the Holy Spirit ...

Mary seen in Sun at time of Apparition

By Jakob Marschner

A former Italian bank manager says he saw the Virgin Mary in a sun spectacle in Medjugorje on April 27. Wearing a blue cloak, the Virgin stood forth in the sun just about the time the daily apparition begins, Luciano Giglioni testifies. Group of other Italian pilgrims also saw the sun wonder.

Along with a group of Italian pilgrims, Luciano Giglioni from Castel del Piano witnessed a 30 minutes sun wonder in Medjugorje on April 27.

Giglioni says he saw the Virgin Mary in the sun minutes before 5.40 pm when three Medjugorje visionaries have their daily apparition.

“When we went down Apparition Hill, the sun had become so bright that its light took much of the sky. Then suddenly it started to throb and turn on itself, and then split into two. And you could see the image of the Virgin Mary dressed in a blue cloak, and a purple Cross” Luciano Giglioni tells regional newspaper Il Tirreno Grosseto.

Luciano Giglioni on Apparition Hill in Medjugorje where he saw the Virgin Mary in the sun on April 27. His account of the event has many similarities with accounts of the earliest sun spectacles in Medjugorje, when the apparitions began in 1981

“Some began to cry, some to pray, some were still walking as if nothing had happened. I realized I was crying. And I took off my glasses, and I left myself to watch the sun changing color continuously for at least half an hour. Just as it started, then everything went back to normal, with only the ‘normal’ heaven, and apparently ‘normal’ people” the retired bank manager says.

Saying he will always have emotions tied to the event, Giglioni has spent a while since April 27 trying to make sense of what happened:

“Imagine my surprise when I tried to rationalize the event. What had I seen? What did we see? How did I look at the sun without sunglasses all the time, and not take any damage to my eyesight?” Luciano Giglioni recounts.

“I am only giving a witness, and this means that I must stick to the facts of what I experienced on April 27 at about 17.30″ the former bank manager says.

LIFT OFF

"Wait, rather, for the fulfillment of My Father's promise." -Acts 1:4

We have been in intense prayer for eighty days - forty days of Lent and forty days of Easter. Today we reach the feast of the Ascension, the beginning of the grand finale of the Easter season.

Soon we will began a Holy Spirit novena, nine days of prayer for a new Pentecost in our day. Our prayer will be answered as the Spirit will be lavished on us (Ti 3:6) without ration (Jn 3:34). Then we will have the power to be Jesus' witnesses right where we are and even to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). In the power of the Holy Spirit, we will make disciples of all nations by baptizing them and teaching them to obey all Jesus commanded (Mt 28:19-20).

On this feast of the Ascension, we begin the countdown to a new Pentecost. Celebrate this feast with your whole heart. Don't just sandwich a quick Mass into the midst of a busy day. Make this a holy day - a day especially set apart for God. Plan for the Holy Spirit novena. Cancel or postpone whatever you can in this week before Pentecost. Give yourself more time to give God prime time.
Go into the upper room with Mary and all the saints. Wait there for the fulfillment of our Father's promise, for "within a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 1:5).

Father, may I thirst for the Spirit more than for anything else (see Jn 7:37).

~Messages from Our Lady~

Dear children! Today I call you, through prayer and sacrifice, to prepare yourselves for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Little children, this is a time of grace and so, again, I call you to decide for God the Creator. Allow him to transform and change you. May your heart be prepared to listen to, and live, everything which the Holy Spirit has in his plan for each of you. Little children, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you on the way of truth and salvation towards eternal life. Thank you for having responded to my call. Medjugorje message, May 25, 1998

Dear children, Today I call you to open your heart to the Holy Spirit and to permit him to transform you. My children, God is the immeasurable good and therefore, as a mother, I implore you to pray, pray, pray, fast and hope that it is possible to attain that good, because love is born of that good. The Holy Spirit will reinforce that good in you and you will be able to call God your Father. Through this exalted love, you will sincerely come to love all people and, through God, consider them brothers and sisters. Thank you. Medjugorje message, November 2, 2007

The Start of something Good, Israel in Medjugorje

May 14, 2012 A.D.

A scene at the Appariton time Rosary in Medjugorje is a cause for reflection of the call of Our Lady.

An Israeli flag at Apparition Time Rosary, Medjugorje
A lone Israeli flag flaps in the wind at Apparition time Rosary and before Croatian Mass on Saturday, May 12, 2012. A group of 34 Eastern Orthodox Catholics from Israel are on their first pilgrimage to Medjugorje. When asked whether many Israelis are coming to Medjugorje, the man waving the flag stated enthusiastically, “We are starting it up!” It is beautiful watching this flag wave, contemplating how God first chose Israel as His people and His nation to be a light to the world. The group loves their country and is proud to represent Israel in Medjugorje.
Our Lady told the village of Medjugorje on November 15, 1984:
"Dear children, you are a chosen people…”

Message from Our Mother Mary, Today I Invite You...

Dear children!
Today I invite you to become missionaries of my messages, which I am giving here through this place that is dear to me. God has allowed me to stay this long with you and therefore, little children, I invite you to live with love the messages I give and to transmit them to the whole world, so that a river of love flows to people who are full of hatred and without peace. I invite you, little children, to become peace where there is no peace and light where there is darkness, so that each heart accepts the light and the way of salvation. Thank you for having responded to my call. Medjugorje message, February 25, 1995
.
* Our Lady invites us, she calls us, she invokes us, she pleads with us, but she never forces us. It is our choice to say Yes or No to her requests. But what loving child can say No to such a loving mother as Mary?

Thank You for Our Mothers

Before he became Pope, Karol Cardinal Wojtyla said....

Before he became Pope, Karol Cardinal Wojtyla said, we must be prepared to undergo great trials in the not too distant future, trials that will require us to be ready to give up our lives..."1 Pope John Paul II, as Karol Cardinal Wojtyla, elaborated this theme during a visit to the United States in 1976:

"We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through. I do not think that wide circles of the American society or wide circles of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel. It is a trial which the Church must take up.

Bishop Thomas Tobin, the Defender of Marriage and Family

Pray for Courageous Bishop Thomas Tobin, the Defender of Marriage and Family

  • by Deacon Keith Fournier

  • 5/11/2012 Catholic Online (www.catholic.org)

  • The decision of President Barack Obama to endorse same-sex marriage is extremely disappointing, but not at all surprising. This is a very divisive and devious president who, from the beginning of his administration has actively pursued a liberal, secular agenda that discards fundamental moral values including respect for human life, and religious freedom. This is a sad day in American history.  Even the President of the United States does not have the authority to redefine the sacred institution of marriage that has been given to us by God.

PROVIDENCE, RI (Catholic Online) - Thomas J. Tobin is the Bishop of the Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island. He has stood strong in his defense of the dignity of every human person from conception to natural death as well as his defense of true marriage and the family and society founded upon it. He has tried to help erring Catholics, including Catholic politicians in his own Diocese, to turn from error and turn toward the truth. He is solid as a rock in his orthodoxy, but always defends the faith with a pastor's heart.

In June of 2011, Rhode Island passed "civil union" legislation. The Bishop knew that such legislation was dangerous to the common good. He recognized that the continuing moral erosion of our culture which has as one of its bad fruits, the movement to eliminate marriage and the family and society founded upon it by giving a moral and legal equivalency to homosexual relationships.

The legislation contained what are called "religious exemptions". However, a group of homosexual equivalency activists who called themselves "Marriage Equality Rhode Island", who represent the "LGBTI"  (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender and Intersex) community  issued this statement upon the passage of the legislation:

"We are extremely disappointed that the Senate brazenly ignored the commonsense objections raised by equality and civil rights leaders here and across the country. This civil union bill contains dangerous and discriminatory language that, without question, will cause significant harm to countless gay and lesbian couples in loving, committed relationships, and we will continue to fight it through whatever means are necessary."

"Furthermore, we renew our request that the governor veto this hurtful and ill conceived bill. To not do so would be a slap in the face to the gay and lesbian community, and every Rhode Islander who cares about equal rights and protections for all our state's citizens."

As a constitutional lawyer who has practiced public interest law to defend life, marriage and religious freedom, I know the way that Public Interest Lawyers utilize litigation. The mix of "homosexual marriage" and "civil union" legislation throughout the Nation is part of a deliberate strategy. It will be used by lawyers for the homosexual equivalency movement in their ultimate goal. They want to set up a 14th Amendment "Equal Protection" constitutional argument with which they will seek to use the US Supreme Court to try and compel the entire Nation to recognize homosexual unions as the legal equivalent of marriage.

The cases are being set up in much the same way the opponents of the Right to Life used the Courts, beginning with Griswold V Connecticut in 1965, to lay the groundwork for legalized abortion on demand. Griswold was a 'contraception" case involving a married couple which went to the Supreme Court and led to the precedent establishing a "zone of privacy". That set up the infamous Roe and Doe opinions which removed all legal protection for our youngest neighbors and unleashed the horrible bloodshed on abortion on demand by finding a penumbra in that "right to privacy" which somehow allowed the taking of unborn life. Griswold was filed by the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood of Connecticut.

Bishop Tobin issued a statement upon the passage of that Civil Union legislation in which he wrote: "I am deeply disappointed that Rhode Island will establish civil unions in our state. The concept of civil unions is a social experiment that promotes an immoral lifestyle, is a mockery of the institution of marriage as designed by God, undermines the well-being of our families, and poses a threat to religious liberty.

"In this context it is my obligation to remind Catholics of the teachings of the Church on this matter. First, the Church continues to have respect and love for persons with same-sex attraction; they are indeed children of God and our brothers and sisters in the human family. We pray for their well-being and offer them spiritual guidance and pastoral care. We also extend our love and support to families of homosexual persons who sometimes struggle with this difficult emotional issue."

"At the same time, the Church reminds its members that homosexual activity is contrary to the natural law and the will of God and, therefore, is objectively sinful. Persons with same-sex attraction are required to live the Christian virtues of chastity and modesty, as all persons are. The importance of these virtues is clearly established in the Holy Scriptures and in the constant tradition of the Church."

"Because civil unions promote an unacceptable lifestyle, undermine the faith of the Church on holy matrimony, and cause scandal and confusion, Catholics may not participate in civil unions. To do so is a very grave violation of the moral law and, thus, seriously sinful. A civil union can never be accepted as a legitimate alternative to matrimony."

The Bishop was correct, courageous and prophetic. He was also pilloried by the media. Horrid efforts were made to ridicule and marginalize him. I covered the incident in a series of articles. He was simply being a faithful bishop. On June 3, 2003 the then Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger issued a directive entitled "Considerations regarding Proposals to Give Legal recognition To Unions Between Homosexual persons." It clearly rejected any effort to give equivalent legal status to homosexual unions. It restated the unbroken tradition of the Catholic Christian Church for two thousand years. It sought to help all Bishops to direct Catholics in Public Life:

"The present Considerations do not contain new doctrinal elements; they seek rather to reiterate the essential points on this question and provide arguments drawn from reason which could be used by Bishops in preparing more specific interventions, appropriate to the different situations throughout the world, aimed at protecting and promoting the dignity of marriage, the foundation of the family, and the stability of society, of which this institution is a constitutive element. The present considerations are also intended to give direction to Catholic politicians by indicating the approaches to proposed legislation in this area which would be consistent with Christian conscience"

The recent events leading to President Obama announcing his intention to undermine marriage and become the de facto head of the Homosexual Equivalency Movement, reveal the serious risk we face as a Nation. There is a cultural revolution underway led by those on the fringes of the homosexual activist community who will stop at nothing less than legal "equivalency" between homosexual unions and true marriage.

Having learned from the verbal engineering of the movement to make the taking of innocent life in the womb through abortion "a right", they are master manipulators of the language. They have reframed their  anti-marriage movement as a movement for "marriage equality" much like the proponents of abortion succeeded in calling killing the unborn a "choice."

Catholics must be honest about some in our own house. Some Catholic Politicians undermine the Church, do violence to the truth, cause scandal, and put their own souls in jeopardy. They hide behind a self erected "public/private" dichotomy in rejecting their duty to defend the right to life and protect marriage and the family and society founded upon it. They engage in sophistry to explain away their flagrant error. They are not only being unfaithful to the truths proclaimed by their own Church, they are undermining the common good. The 2003 directive spoke forcefully to these folks:

"If it is true that all Catholics are obliged to oppose the legal recognition of homosexual unions, Catholic politicians are obliged to do so in a particular way, in keeping with their responsibility as politicians. Faced with legislative proposals in favor of homosexual unions, Catholic politicians are to take account of the following ethical indications."

"When legislation in favor of the recognition of homosexual unions is proposed for the first time in a legislative assembly, the Catholic law-maker has a moral duty to express his opposition clearly and publicly and to vote against it. To vote in favor of a law so harmful to the common good is gravely immoral."

The directive addressed the whole of civil society: "Since this question relates to the natural moral law, the arguments that follow are addressed not only to those who believe in Christ, but to all persons committed to promoting and defending the common good of society."

The document presents a lucid, solid, powerful defense of the truth about marriage and family. Yes, it presents this truth from within biblical revelation and the Christian Tradition. However, like all of the Church's Social Doctrine, it also does so from the order of right reason, the natural law, the biological and anthropological order, the social order and the legal order. That is because truth is truth. Every serious Catholic should read it and learn from it how to defend the truth about marriage.

The Prefect for the Congregation, who issued the directive, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, is now Pope Benedict XVI. He continues to insist that Catholics in political life defend marriage and family. Just as Catholic politicians must support the right to life for unborn persons they must also support true marriage.

On May 10, 2012, the day after the President of the United States announced his "evolution" to a position which undermines marriage and the family and society founded upon it, Bishop Tobin issued the following statement. It can be found on the Diocesan website here.

"The decision of President Barack Obama to endorse same-sex marriage is extremely disappointing, but not at all surprising. This is a very divisive and devious president who, from the beginning of his administration has actively pursued a liberal, secular agenda that discards fundamental moral values including respect for human life, and religious freedom. This is a sad day in American history.  Even the President of the United States does not have the authority to redefine the sacred institution of marriage that has been given to us by God."

Once again we see the mettle of this good man and witness the heroic example of one more Bishop. I ask every reader of Catholic Online throughout the whole world, to pray for courageous Bishop Thomas Tobin, the Defender of Marriage and Family. We need to learn from him to be strong in the struggle ahead.

What's the Big Deal, Leaving Mass After Receiving Holy Communion

Mass Exodus: Leaving Mass After Receiving Holy Communion
    written by Fr. Lawrence Adamczyk:

While not as bad as missing Mass, leaving Mass immediately after receiving Holy Communion is still very disrespectful to your Spouse. Again, let’s use the analogy of Jesus the Bridegroom and the Church as His spouse. Leaving immediately after receiving Holy Communion, screams that you really do not understand what has just happened.
You have just received the God of the Universe, the One who created you, the One who died on the cross for you, the Eternal, the Almighty God into your heart and soul and you don’t even stop to say “thank you” to your spouse. You cannot have a deep personal intimate relationship with the one who loves you more then you can ever know, if you leave as soon as YOU get what YOU want. I have fallen madly and passionately in love with the God of the universe.
I have been a priest for about 8 years. You know what breaks my heart? For more than 8 years now, I have been standing at the back of the church greeting people as they leave Mass. It breaks my heart when people leave Mass right after receiving Holy Communion; and it is not because as St. Paul says that “we must render an account.” It breaks my heart because of the Book of Wisdom, “I…deemed riches nothing in comparison with her, nor did I liken any priceless gem to her; because all gold, in view of her is a little sand.” Maybe it is because I am a priest, that I feel so heart broken that people do not reverence the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. Do they not know that after receiving Holy Communion, they are a walking tabernacle? What can be so important that one would not spend a few moments in thanksgiving for receiving the Almighty God into your very being?
But the rich young man, “went away sad, for he had many possessions” which were apparently more important to him that following Jesus. By our Baptism, we are all called to that intimate and personal love that God has for each one of us, it cannot be that only the priest has a deep and personal relationship with God. Fr. Pedro Aruppe, one time superior General of the Jesuits is quoted as saying, “Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you will do with your evenings, how you will spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love and it will decide everything.” Remember love is not about feeling or emotions; love is not about sex.
Love is about the choice to sacrifice for the good of the other.

THE HOLY MASS  --  OUR LADY of MEDJUGORJE IN HER MESSAGES SAYS,
THE MASS IS THE GREATEST PRAYER OF GOD.

"Mass is the greatest prayer of God. You will never be able to understand its greatness. That is why you must be perfect and humble at Mass, and you should prepare yoursleves for it." (1983)

"Dear children! Today I call you to renew prayer in your families. Dear children, encourage the very young to prayer and the children to go to Holy Mass. Thank you for having responded to my call." March 7, 1985
    .
"Dear children! I am calling you to a more active prayer and attendance at Holy Mass. I wish your Mass to be an experience of God. I wish especially to say to the young people: be open to the Holy Spirit because God wishes to draw you to Himself in these days when Satan is at work. Thank you for having responded to my call." May 16, 1985
    .
"Dear children! I wish to call you to a living of the Holy Mass. There are many of you who have sensed the beauty of the Holy Mass, but there are also those who come unwillingly. I have chosen you, dear children, but Jesus gives you His graces in the Mass. Therefore, consciously live the Holy Mass and let your coming to it be a joyful one. Come to it with love and make the Mass your own. Thank you for having responded to my call." April 3, 1986
    .
"Dear children! God wants to make you holy. Therefore, through me He is inviting you to complete surrender. Let Holy Mass be your life. Understand that the church is God's palace, the place in which I gather you and want to show you the way to God. Come and pray. Neither look at others nor slander them, but rather, let your life be a testimony on the way of holiness. Churches deserve respect and are set apart as holy because God, who became man, dwells in them day and night. Therefore, little children, believe and pray that the Father increase your faith, and then ask for whatever you need. I am with you and I am rejoicing because of you conversion and I am protecting you with my motherly mantle. Thank you for having responded to my call." April 25, 1988
    .
"Dear children! These years I have been calling you to pray, to live what I am telling you, but you are living my messages a little. You talk, but do not live, that is why little children, this war is lasting so long. I invite you to open yourselves to God and in your hearts to live with God, living the good and giving witness to my messages. I love you and wish to protect you from every evil, but you do not desire it. Dear children, I cannot help you if you do not live God's commandments, if you do not live the Mass, if you do not give up sin. I invite you to be apostles of love and goodness. In this world of unrest give witness to God and God's love, and God will bless you and give you what you seek from Him. Thank you for having responded to my call." October 25, 1993
    .
"Dear children! Today again I call all of you to prayer. Only with prayer, dear children, will your heart change, become better, and be more sensitive to the Word of God. Little children, do not permit Satan to pull you apart and to do with you what he wants. I call you to be responsible and determined and to consecrate each day to God in prayer. May Holy Mass, little children, not be a habit for you, but life. By living Holy Mass each day, you will feel the need for holiness and you will grow in holiness. I am close to you and intercede before God for each of you, so that He may give you strength to change your heart. Thank you for having responded to my call." January 25, 1998

Medjugorje: Liquid now drips from both legs of Risen Christ Statue

    By Jakob Marschner

With liquid dripping from one knee, the bronze sculpture of the Risen Christ has been a mystery in Medjugorje since 2001. While the nature of the liquid is itself mysterious, the mystery as such has just increased, for these days the unknown substance flows from both legs of the sculpture.

Almost 11 years after one of the knees of the Risen Christ sculpture in Medjugorje first started to shed a tear-like liquid, even returning pilgrims are surprised by the sculpture these days: Now the watery substance comes from both legs.

“Yes, it is true. Water is coming from both legs now. The new drip is actually just above the knee, on the lower thigh. The new drip is stronger than the older one” film-maker and Queen of Peace Productions founder Sean Bloomfield reports from Medjugorje.

“With all the people in Medjugorje now, having both knees dripping sure helps in the crowd flow!” he adds on the discussion board at MedjugorjeLive where another pilgrim just back from Medjugorje likewise tells to have witnessed the substance dripping from both sculpture legs.

The sculpture has shown to be unpredictable on previous occasions as well. Several times, the dripping has stopped for extended periods of time. One such occasion in 2010 coincided with Medjugorje receiving large amounts of rain, weakening a theory that the watery substance could be rain dripping out from inside the sculpture.

On another occasion, a large group of pilgrims witnessed how the substance was suddenly red and no longer clear:

“My friend Drago who lives in Medjugorje has informed me that this past week a man took a paper napkin and reached to take a drop of oil from the Risen Christ statue. When he looked at the napkin it is reported that the napkin was full of blood. A minimum of 50 people witnessed this. Some screamed in fear and some said, “It’s a miracle” MedjugorjeUSA reported by that time.

Gallons of mysterious liquid have been gathered by Medjugorje pilgrims in the course of the almost 11 years when the substance has been flowing from the Risen Christ sculpture behind the outdoor altar of St. James Church

Vatican experts have been rumored to have analyzed the substance, but neither Rome nor the parish of Medjugorje have ever confirmed such analysis to have taken place.

The statue is a replica of the 277 centimeter silver sculpture “The Resurrection”, sculpted by Andrej Ajdic and presented to Pope John Paul II on the occasion of his 1996 visit to Slovenia.

“Renew in our day, O Lord, your wonders as in a new Pentecost”
Open yourselves docilely to the gifts of the Spirit. Accept gratefully and obediently the charisms which the Spirit never ceases to bestow on us. Do not forget that every charism is given for the common good, that is for the benefit of the whole Church. — John Paul II, 1998..

The Life in the Spirit Seminar is commonly used by Catholic groups in the context of renewal in the Roman Catholic Church. It is an instrument for bringing people into a deeper experience of the work of the Holy Spirit. The Seminar offers the basic presentation of the Gospel and the basic teaching about what the Lord is willing to do for all who come to Him.

Can You Hear Me Now? - Father John Randall

Published on Apr 17, 2012 by
Watch this GREAT, rousing episode of St. Charles Speaks! produced by Kara Russo and filmed at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Providence, Rhode Island in April 2010! Father John Randall, who passed away in June 2011, is among the best speakers you will ever hear. Filled with the Holy Spirit, he tells it like it is! Many miracles have happened since his death (and many miracles before his death as well) and many can see that Father Randall is on the fast track to Sainthood.
Fr. John Randall, Beloved son of God, Beloved son of Mary, Crusader of the Holy Spirit!

Fr. Abdiel Cardenas, It was in Medjugorje that I felt great joy, great strength to continue my priestly life.

    Pilgrims in Medjugorje

Along with pilgrims from twenty different countries, our journalists met those from Panama as well. Lorena Varela, wife of the Vice President of Panama is here for second time. She heard about Medjugorje from her mother who always wanted to come for a visit, but because of her serious illness, she was not able to. Her mom died last year. Soon after the death of their mother, Lorena and her mom decided to come on pilgrimage to Medjugorje. Now, during her second visit, she said: “I have found such a peace here and I felt so close to Mother of God, I really felt as if our mother was with us. The first items that I brought from this place were Our Lady’s statue and Rosary that I often pray now. My personal relationship with Our Lady was changed after my visit to Medjugorje as well she is inviting us and every time you come here, she is calling you anew. As a wife of the Vice President of Panama, I do have many obligations that I need to fulfill and some of those are not easy very often. But, with Our Lady, it all becomes easy and She gives me strength to continue. We pray Rosary in our family.”

Journalists also met Fr. Abdiel Cardenas who is the member of the Apostolic Diocese in Panama. He works with African immigrants and with Indians and has two parishes. He said that he heard about the apparitions for the first time long ago, back in 1981. He was only a 13-years old boy at that time, and he arrived to Medjugorje for the first time four years ago. Fr. Abdiel said that many pilgrims from Panama have visited Medjugorje in these years. They have prayer groups named after Our Lady – “Queen of Peace”. “It was in Medjugorje that I felt great joy, great strength to continue my priestly life. We have always looked for materials about Medjugorje. That was something huge for me. Medjugorje gave me so many things, one special love to the Eucharist, pure and open devotion to Our Lady”, said Fr. Abdiel.     Medjugorje Official

My children, you cannot be without the shepherds

    Confession in Medjugorje 2011
    (c)Mary TV 2011
The lifesaving ministry of the Priesthood!
    May 8, 2012
    Dear Family of Mary!
"My children, you cannot be without the shepherds. May they be in your prayers every day. Thank you." (May 2, 2012)
    .
This is the tail end of Our Lady's message of May 2. But it is a very important part of her message. Our Lady shares with us a very stark and startling reality. We really cannot be without our shepherds. Without our Pope, the bishops, and our priests, we would cease to function as the Body of Christ. Our shepherds are like the vital organs of the body, pumping oxygen and food through our veins like the heart and lungs, teaching us and guiding us like the brain and the senses, and cleaning us of all impurities, like the kidneys and intestines. They keep us alive in the grace of God through their administration of the Sacraments. We need them!!!
    .
I have several examples of the life-saving role of the priesthood in my life. Here is one. About 15 years ago I became very ill with an intestinal infection. At first it looked like the flu, but as time went by it intensified instead of abating, and so I was sent to the emergency room. As the doctors worked to try to diagnose the cause of my illness, I became weaker and weaker. It was looking pretty grim. No one seemed able to identify the source of my problem.
    .
I was in and out of reality, sedated because of pain. But I remember very clearly the night when Denis brought Fr. Ed O'Connor to my hospital room to give me the Anointing of the Sick. Fr. Ed's voice penetrated the fog in my mind, and I heard him praying the beautiful prayers of the Anointing. I felt the oil on my forehead, hands and feet. I knew I was being blessed through the power of the Church, and a peace came over me that I could not explain.
    .
That same night, a new doctor came on the scene, and his voice also pierced through the fog, and I knew he would be able to diagnose my situation. I just knew it. He asked me several questions, and then made some changes to my medications. For the next week, he attended me very faithfully, and though it was touch and go, I pulled through with no lasting consequences. (I also had many friends and family praying for me. In fact that night I was anointed two friends were in adoration for me, and they both felt it was a turning point.)
    .
Anyway, I experienced firsthand that power of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. It was as if Jesus came right to my bedside and turned the situation around, beginning my healing through Fr. Ed. We cannot "be" without our priests, bishops and the Pope. They are our life support system in the Body of Christ, and we need them at every turning point in our life.
    .
I want to pray for them with intense gratitude and love. I think we should cherish them because they bring us the life sustaining graces that Jesus has provided for us by His sacrifice, death and resurrection. Thank you, dear Jesus, for giving us your Representatives on earth. Thank you for their constant care. Strengthen them for the days ahead. Teach them how to become more and more perfect as your representatives, and comfort them in their trials and failures. We ask you to hear our prayers for them, and to always sustain them in love.
    In Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

Fr. Rookey Speaks on 4-24-12 of Healing Miracles in Medjugorje

Published on May 2, 2012 by
Fr. Peter Rookey goes out for dinner near his office on 4-24-12 with some friends and family members, including his nephew Tim and niece Anne Rookey. He describes some healings that came about in the Marian shrine village of Medjugorje in Bosnia after he prayed over people who were blind. These healings were dramatic and took place over the past several years.

Fr. Peter Mary Rookey-The Healing Priest.

    Fr. Peter Mary Rookey
Probably one of the most well-known priests of the Servite order is Fr. Peter Mary Rookey. Although a number of interesting books have been written about Fr. Rookey and his charism of healing, when asked about his gift, Father simply says, “It is God’s work, not mine - He does all the healing, I just pray.”
In 1948, after having been healed miraculously from blindness, Fr. Peter Mary Rookey formed the Servite Order in Ireland. Father has traveled the world using his charism, including many trips to Medjugorje. Although Father does not travel as much now, in 2006 at the age of 90, Fr. Rookey made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje.
    .
*In Medjugorje, Father was asked to bless a young boy in a wheelchair, and after having blessed the young boy, Father ordered the boy to stand up. The boy stood up and walked to Fr. Rookey and fell sobbing with joy into his arms!
Perhaps one of the most well known healings through Fr. Rookey was the physical and spiritual healing of David Parkes. You can send a prayer request to him via his website, www.smcenter.org/frrookey.htm.
Fr. Rookey shares what he calls a Miracle Prayer and tells us that if we mean each word fully with all of our heart, that we will experience something spiritually good.

THE MIRACLE PRAYER>>> Lord Jesus, l come before You, just as I am. I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In Your name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. l give You my entire self, Lord Jesus, now and forever. I invite You into my life, Jesus. I accept You as my Lord, God and Saviour. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul and spirit.
Come Lord Jesus, cover me with Your precious blood, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I love You, Lord Jesus. I praise You, Jesus. I thank You, Jesus. I shall follow You every day of my life. Amen.
Mary my mother, Queen of Peace, St. Peregrine, the cancer saint, all you angels and Saints please help me. Amen.

Say this prayer faithfully, no matter how you feel. When you come to the point where you sincerely mean each word, with all your heart, something good spiritually will happen to you. You will experience Jesus, and He will change your whole life in a very special way. You will see. Medjugorje Spirit

    Life In The Holy Spirit

~ JOY IN THE SPIRIT ~

"The disciples could not but be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit." -Acts 13:52

Paul and Barnabas suffered "violent abuse" and were expelled from the territory of Antioch in Pisidia (Acts 13:45, 50). Most people react to abuse with anger, unforgiveness, or other forms of retaliation. We tend to attack the abuser physically or at least in court. However, Paul and Barnabas responded to the abusive treatment they suffered by being "filled with joy and the Holy Spirit" (Acts 13:52).

The Holy Spirit makes us holy. He transforms us and empowers us to act in godly ways. In the Spirit, we respond to evil with good (see Rm 12:21), to violence with forgiveness, and to rejection with love. The Holy Spirit can take someone like Philip, who Jesus said didn't even know Him (Jn 14:9), and turn him into a missionary-martyr-saint. The Spirit can turn a fearful man like Peter into the preacher of Pentecost, the first Pope, and a glorious martyr. The Spirit can take us in our selfishness and compulsions and make us loving, pure, and free.

On the first Easter evening, Jesus breathed on the apostles and said: "Receive the Holy Spirit" (Jn 20:22). The Father and Jesus continue to give us the Spirit.

Receive the Holy Spirit now and live a new life.

Prayer: Father, where there is hatred, let me give love, and where there is injury, pardon (from the Prayer of St. Francis).

Promise: "I solemnly assure you, the man who has faith in Me will do the works I do, and greater far than these." -Jn 14:12

Our Lady's Apparition to Mirjana of May 2, 2012

Dear children! With motherly love I implore you to give me your hands, permit me to lead you. I, as a mother, desire to save you from restlessness, despair and eternal exile. My Son, by His death on the Cross, showed how much He loves you; He sacrificed Himself for your sake and the sake of your sins. Do not keep rejecting His sacrifice and do not keep renewing His sufferings with your sins. Do not keep shutting the doors of Heaven to yourselves. My children, do not waste time. Nothing is more important than unity in my Son. I will help you because the Heavenly Father is sending me so that, together, we can show the way of grace and salvation to all those who do not know Him. Do not be hard hearted. Have confidence in me and adore my Son. My children, you can not be without the shepherds. May they be in your prayers every day. Thank you.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. -- The former top National Guard official in Rhode Island is calling on the military, religious leaders and everyday Rhode Islanders to stand up for a war memorial in the parking lot of the Woonsocket Fire Department.

    Lt. Gen. REGINALD CENTRACCHIO
"This is the line in the sand as far as I'm concerned," said Lt. Gen. Reginald Centracchio, state adjutant general for 10 years.
The Freedom from Religion Foundation has complained that the monument, which displays a cross, is an illegal religious symbol on city property.
Centracchio believes the controversy is less about the separation of church and state than protecting veterans' rights to be buried and memorialized the way they see fit.
He plans a rally in front of the memorial Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

War Monument Cross is to Religious For Atheist Group

by Dee DeQuattro: Bishop Thomas Tobin says the challenge to the war monument that features a cross in Woonsocket by a Wisconsin atheist group is a “serious attack on religious expression and religious freedom” and that the atheists are bullying those who have faith.
“The majority now is being bullied by the minority, by the atheists and by the secularists and we feel like we are on the defensive, we are being bullied and that is not a good feeling to have,” Tobin told WPRO’s John DePetro.
“We are seeing a slow but steady erosion of a basic American value and that is the freedom of religious expression,” said Bishop Tobin. Tobin said the cross should not be taken down but he is open to relocating it to an area of more prominence where it will not be an “issue.” Mayor Leo Fontaine of Woonsocket said he is looking at spaces on private land that the monument could be relocated to if necessary. A rally scheduled for next Wednesday May, 2 at 4:30 p.m. at the monument aims to urge the city to keep the monument where it is.
Tobin told John DePetro that religion is everywhere in American society and various faiths are represented. He said that it is impossible for someone “offended” by the presence of religion to avoid it completely so they need to come to terms with it. “It is very hard to be immune to all that. If people are offended by that they have to deal with their issues,” said Tobin. “They cannot live in a bubble. They cannot isolate themselves completely from every religious expression in our nation, in our culture, in our society.”
Tobin said he does not believe the monument violates the separation of church and state despite accusations from the Freedom from Religion Foundation that the memorial is an egregious violation of the constitution. “This certainly has nothing to do with the separation of church and state. This is not the establishment of a denomination, it is not the establishment of a particular church by the state,” said Tobin, “this is a cultural symbol, this is a religious symbol that speaks to most of our people especially when it is dedicated to our war veterans I think it has a very special reverence.”
Tobin described a cross or a Star of David as a very basic expression of faith and said they are very natural symbols for U.S. citizens. Tobin said this challenge is a “very grave threat to our way of life as Americans and our freedom of religion.”
Tobin said that Rhode Islanders are in a battle for the cross and he hope that the cross will come out on top. “This whole debate about the cross is taking place during Easter season when we celebrate a victory of the cross, so, I think we need another victory of the cross in Woonsocket and I hope that will ultimately prevail,” said Tobin.

Our Lady's Medjugorje Meassage to Mirjana, Do Not Waste Time

This morning, on May 2, 2012, Our Lady appeared to the visionary Mirjana Soldo in front of the Blue Cross at the base of Apparition Hill. After the apparition, Mirjana reported that Our Lady gave the following message:

"Dear children! With motherly love I implore you to give me your hands, permit me to lead you. I, as a mother, desire to save you from restlessness, despair and eternal exile. My Son, by His death on the Cross, showed how much He loves you; He sacrificed Himself for your sake and the sake of your sins. Medjugorje Busier than ever

Medjugorje is busy as never before
    By Jakob Marschner

All hotel and pansion rooms in Medjugorje were occupied last weekend, and pilgrims who came without a booking ended up sleeping in their car. I have lived here all my life, seen most big events throughout the years, and I can honestly say I never saw Medjugorje this busy, a local guide reports.

Unusually many pilgrims visited Medjugorje last weekend April 28-29, and some arrived to the surprise that they could not find a bed to sleep in, local guide and webmaster Mate Vasilj tells us from Medjugorje.

“I think the whole of Italy moved to Medjugorje. I have lived here throughout my whole life, and I have been around on most of the busy events through the years, and I will say this with a clear conscience, I have never seen Medjugorje this busy” Mate Vasilj reports at medjugorje.net.

“There are people still looking for a bed to sleep, there are some groups that arrived hoping they will find accomodation once they arrive since they were not able to do it by the phone/email, they ended up sleeping in the van.”

“I went to the evening Mass last night, and the whole space behind the church, all of the benches and all of the lawn was packed. It was pretty impressive but also quite intriguing, I wonder where did they all find accommodation?” Mate Vasilj writes.

    The Holy Spirit Comes

    Pentecost: the Holy Spirit Comes

    by Victor Hoagland, C.P.

Following his resurrection Jesus was seen by his apostles for a period of forty days, according to the Acts of the Apostles, during which “he spoke to them of the kingdom of God”. (Acts 1) The sundays of Easter before the Feast of Pentecost recall these meetings when the Good Shepherd, risen from the dead, goes searching for his sheep. He will not leave them orphans, he tells them, “I will come back to you.”

At the same time Jesus directed his apostles to “wait for the gift promised by the Father, of which I told you.” The gift of the Holy Spirit.

So they waited in Jerusalem until the Jewish feast of Pentecost arrived, fifty days after the Passover. Then, as they were all together in one place, a strong wind and sound filled the house where they were, and flames like tongues of fire came to rest on them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is Jesus’ “first gift to those who believe, to complete his work on earth, and bring us the fulness of grace.” ( 4th Eucharistic Prayer) Just as the Father sent him, his disciples are to go into the world to renew the face of the earth. With different gifts, they form one body. Performing different works, they are members of the body of Christ, the church.

They were not to be survivors reminiscing until death about those few glorious years he was with them. They were to be on their way to new uncharted lands. “Go and make disciples of all the nations. Baptise them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you.” Their lives were not ending, but beginning.

The Acts of the Apostles records the beginnings of the church. Jesus’ disciples would take his message from Jerusalem to all parts of the world through the power of the Holy Spirit.

“Receive the Holy Spirit”, Jesus said to his apostles when he first appeared to them on Easter sunday. A new age has come.

The same Holy Spirit still abides in the church, with us, making all things new.
    Come, Holy Spirit, Creator come
    from your bright heav’nly throne:
come take possession of our souls,
and make them all your own.

You who are called the Paraclete,
    best gift of God above,
the living spring, the living fire,
    sweet unction and true love.

You who are sev’nfold in your grace,
    finger of God’s right hand:
    his promise, teaching little ones
    to speak and understand.

O guide our minds with your blest light,
    with love our hearts inflame;
and with your strength, which ne’er decays,
    confirm our mortal frame.
