BISHOP Tobin Identified As Enemy Of Pro-Aborts

Bishop Thomas Tobin commented this picture on twitter: This message projected onto the R.I. State House at a recent pro-abortion rally says: “Bishop Tobin does not speak for R.I.” So the pro-aborts identify me as their enemy. What a wonderful compliment!

“By their fruits you will know them”

Three spirits strive for mastery in every soul. There is the spirit of falsehood and blasphemy that, since the beginning, has always suggested the contrary to whatever God whispers in our ear. There is the spirit of the world that inclines us to judge things according to the precepts of the senses and fleshly prudence. “The wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God” (1Cor 3:19). There is the Spirit of God that constantly inspires us to lift up our hearts (“sursum corda” *) above nature and to live by faith (Heb 10:38). This Spirit unceasingly inclines us towards a purely loving faith and the abandonment of ourselves into the hands of God. “It fills us with peace and joy in believing” (Rm 15:13) and brings forth the fruits of which Saint Paul speaks. Our Lord said: “You will know these spirits by the fruits” they produce in your soul (cf. Mt 7:16). I recommend great fidelity to the movements of the Holy Spirit. Your baptism and confirmation have implanted it like a living fountain in your soul. Listen to its whisperings and put to flight all other inspirations with one blow. If you keep this fidelity, little by little the divine Spirit will become your guide and will bear you along with Him into the bosom of God.*”Sursum corda”: “Lift up your hearts”, the introductory words to the preface of the Mass.

Maintaining Peace In A Time Of Turmoil

 by

Be an apostle. Do not grow tired. In divisive times, maintain peace.
Be a light in the darkness.
All it takes is a match to light up a dark room.
And so the Virgin Mary instructs us to persevere — and she thanks those who have done so, through what she recently described as increasing “difficulties.”
Many are feeling that: matters are getting tougher; spiritual challenges, more intense.
Last March she said, “Every pain has its end and then life in freedom begins there where all of my children come – where everything is returned. My children, your battle is difficult. It will be even more difficult, but you follow my example.  Pray for the strength of faith; trust in the love of the Heavenly Father. I am with you. I am manifesting myself to you. I am encouraging you. With immeasurable motherly love I am caressing your souls. Thank you.”

This was at Medjugorje, which we are free to quote and which now is under direct Vatican guidance, with its own archbishop, who firmly believes in the apparitions.
And so does patience bear fruit, despite tenacious onslaughts by the enemy. Let it all shake out.
In what she describes as a “peaceless time,” she says, on June 25, 2018, the 37th anniversary of her first appearance, during apparitions that are among the most long-lasting in recorded ecclesial history (though not themost long-lasting, the first week of which, in 1981, have been formally accepted by a Vatican Commission):
“Dear children, also today I am calling you to peace.
“Decide for peace. Decide for Jesus. He is your peace. Set out together with Him. Be my apostles of peace. Therefore, pray. Do not grow tired in prayer. I am praying for all of you and I am interceding for all of you before my Son. Thank you, dear children, for perseverance, for doing good, and that together with you I am realizing my plans in my coming here.”
Last January she said, “Dear children, when love is beginning to disappear on earth, when the way of salvation is not being found, I, the mother, am coming to help you to come to know true faith – living and profound – so as to help you to truly love. As a mother, I am longing for your mutual love, goodness, and purity. My desire is that you be just and that you love each other. My children, be joyful in your soul, be pure, be children. My Son used to say that He loves to be among pure hearts, because pure hearts are always young and joyful. My Son said to you to forgive and to love each other. I know that this is not always easy. Suffering makes you grow in spirit.”
Image result for medjugorjeIn February — in this time of Great Mammon — she said further, “The world and worldly temptations are testing you, but you, little children, look atGod’s creatures which He has given to you in beauty and humility and, little children, love God above everything and He will lead you on the way of salvation.”
Also in March: “Dear children! My earthly life was simple. I loved and I rejoiced in small things. I loved life — the gift from God – even though pain and sufferings pierced my heart. My children, I had the strength of faith and boundless trust in God’s love. All those who have the strength of faith are stronger. Faith makes you live according to what is good and then the light of God’s love always comes at the desired moment.”

“Dear children!” she said earlier in the year. “I am calling you to be with me in prayer in this time of grace when darkness is fighting against the light.”
Here is what the devil would like us to focus on: problems in the Church, money matters, gossip, and politics.
Yet, we cannot be positive if what we focus upon is negative. Too, we must know that fear draws what we fear. “For what I fear overtakes me, and what I shrink from comes upon me” (Job 3:25). Love is a magnet for Grace.
“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows,” Helen Keller once said, adding:
“It’s what sunflowers do.”

THE JOHN THE BAPTIST AWARD

THE JOHN THE BAPTIST AWARD

"[John] made his public appearance in Israel." -Luke 1:80

At a recent Mass, the priest revealed his dream during the homily. He wants to see an annual award, called the St. John the Baptist Courage Award. He envisioned that it would be awarded to that Catholic bishop who has most courageously spoken out for the cause of pro-life. The "trophy" would be a silver platter, symbolizing both the courage St. John the Baptist displayed in continuously speaking out against Herod's public adultery (Mk 6:18) and his resulting imprisonment and execution (Mk 6:28).

Such an award would be yet another encouragement for all of us, in every walk of life, to speak out against injustice and speak up for the Lord. God tells us: "Whatever I command you, you shall speak...Stand up and tell them all that I command you" (Jer 1:7, 17). "Do not be afraid. Go on speaking and do not be silenced, for I am with you," says the Lord (Acts 18:9-10).

Is the Lord calling one of you to make this dream a reality?

Prayer: Father, teach me "what to say and how to speak" (Jn 12:49).

Promise: "It was to us that this message of salvation was sent forth." -Acts 13:26

Praise: Praise You, all-loving Father, risen Jesus, and consuming Holy Spirit. I worship You with every fiber of my being. Alleluia!

The Confessions of St. Damien By June Klins

May 10 was the feast day of St. Damien De Veuster who worked in the leper colonies in the South Pacific. One time on his feast day, the priest at the Mass I attended talked about the suffering of St. Damien. He said that although St. Damien endured much in his work, and he himself contracted leprosy, the worst suffering for him was that he was not able to go to confession regularly. Since there were no other priests on the island, he could not go to confession unless a ship came. Father said that every time a ship would come, Fr. Damien would run and see if there was a priest aboard, so he could go to confession. The priests who were on the ships would not want to get near, for fear of contracting leprosy, so Fr. Damien would have to shout his confession to the priest in the ship. His confession was anything but private! How awesome it would be if we all yearned for confession like that! For many of us, confession is readily available, even daily, and we don’t have to shout! And if we cannot go to the scheduled confessions, we don’t have to wait for a ship to come in – we can just make an appointment with a priest. Our Lady says that there is not a person on earth who does not need to go to confession at least once a month, and that confession would be a remedy for the West!

Our Lady tells us "I call you to imitate the lives of the Saints

The Statue of St. Anthony in St. James Church

St. Anthony of Padua

Dear Family of Mary!

July 25, 2007 "Dear children! Today, on the day of the Patron of your Parish, I call you to imitate the lives of the Saints. May they be, for you, an example and encouragement to a life of holiness. May prayer for you be like the air you breathe in and not a burden. Little children, God will reveal His love to you and you will experience the joy that you are my beloved. God will bless you and give you an abundance of grace. Thank you for having responded to my call."
Though St. James is the patron saint of the Parish of Medjugorje, St. Anthony is the patron of the Franciscans in the area. Rosie reported last year about the devotion to St. Anthony in Medjugorje:
On the 13th of June is St. Anthony's feast day, and here in the region there is a long standing tradition where many young people, and older people too, will leave their homes during the night and walk many kilometers to Ljubuski where the Fransiscan Shrine of St. Anthony is situated. From Medjugorje it is about an 18 Kilometer walk but so many people are prepared to do the walk. They will arrive at St. Anthony's Shrine, where they will attend Holy Mass. There is Holy Mass on the hour, every hour, from 5 am throughout the day to 7 pm. So the pilgrims arrive, attend Holy Mass, and then they also take part in Confession in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is a great joy to see how many young people of this area, and also pilgrims that come, who very willing wish to do this devotion. (Tea with Rosie # 201 - June 14, 2017)

Our Lady tells us "I call you to imitate the lives of the Saints. May they be for you an example and encouragement to a life of holiness." She knows how difficult it is to live a holy life. Especially in these days when our cultures are focused so much on the world and the darkness. Staying close to the saints is important. Their example can really help us when we are making choices.
Here is a prayer to St. Anthony that I like. May St. Anthony help us is all our difficulties and trials:
PRAYER FOR INNER PEACE
St. Anthony, faithful servant of Christ, you offered comfort and consolation to all who came to you in times of trouble. Pray for me now, that I may know true peace of mind, heart and soul. Help me grow in faith, so that I may be free from all useless and needless anxiety in this life.
Fill me with a complete and lasting confidence in God's healing graces. Grant me the serenity known by those who let go of resentments, bitterness and anger. Reassure me that Our Divine Savior, Jesus Christ, is with me every step of the way, every day of my life, and that in His gracious love I need not worry or fear any of life's difficulties. Amen.
"When you look into muddy or choppy water,
you will not see your face reflected.
If you want the face of Christ, who looks
on you, to be reflected within you, come away
from the disturbance of exterior things,
and let your soul be at peace."

Featured article from December's Spirit of Medjugorje

The First Christmas Apparition in Medjugorje
The following is used with permission from the book My Heart Will Triumph by visionary, Mirjana Soldo. This is just a short excerpt of her lengthy account of her first Christmas after the apparitions started in 1981.
Artist's impression from Vicka's description of Our Lady with Baby Jesus during the apparition, Christmas 1981
The picture shown above was taken at Vicka’s grandmother’s house in Medjugorje. The sign underneath the painting says, "Artist's impression from Vicka's description of Our Lady with Baby Jesus during the apparition, Christmas 1981." The artist is a Croatian painter named Davor Zilic.
As Christmas day wound down for everyone else, I prepared for my apparition, and I was more excited about it than usual. After all, it was Jesus' birthday, and what mother is not filled with joy on her child's birthday? I would get to experience the apparition with the others for the first time in months.
I joined Ivanka, Vicka, Marija, Ivan and little Jakov in the church. After praying together, we all felt Our Lady's presence. She appeared before us in a gleaming, golden dress unlike anything I had ever seen – this style was identical to the gray one she usually wore, but the fabric looked like molten metal. It radiated gold, and Our Lady herself emitted the same lustrous hues.
Describing her dress as "golden" hardly defines it, though. There are no human words that can convey the beauty of such a color. Even the word "color" is inadequate, unless a color can be alive, and infused with emotion. I can say that my couch, for example, is a beige color, and in earthly terms I would be correct. The "color" of her dress, however, is almost like light – but an ethereal sort of light that bends, flows, and undulates according to Our Lady's movements and the feeling she wishes to convey.
Our Lady's arms were folded across the front of her dress, which seemed peculiar until I realized she was holding an infant, just like the first time we saw her. She hadn't come again with an infant until now. I yearned for a closer look, but something prevented me from seeing the baby's face. "Love one another, my children," Our Lady said with a warm smile. "You are brothers and sisters."
She then blessed us and departed. Regaining my senses, I was surprised to find myself in Medjugorje with the others and not at our apartment in Sarajevo. The experience was so intense that I forgot where I was.

Medjugorje: Our Lady's Message to Mirjana of June 2, 2018

After the apparition, Mirjana reported that Our Lady gave the following message:

"Dear children, I am calling you to accept my words which I am speaking to you as a mother, with a simplicity of heart, so that you may set out on the way of complete light and purity, of the singular love of my Son, man and God.

A joy—a light indescribable in human words—will penetrate your soul and the peace and love of my Son will take hold of you. I desire this for all of my children.

Therefore, you, apostles of my love, you who know how to love and forgive, you who do not judge, you whom I encourage, you be an example to all those who are not going on the way of light and love or who have diverted from it. By your life show them the truth. Show them love because love overcomes all difficulties, and all of my children thirst for love. Your unity in love is a gift to my Son and me.

But, my children, remember that to love also means to desire the good for your neighbor and to desire conversion of your neighbor’s soul.

As I am looking at you gathered around me, my heart is sad, because I see so little brotherly love, merciful love.

My children, the Eucharist—my Son alive among you—His words will help you comprehend, because His word is life, His word makes the soul breathe, His word brings about cognition of love.

Dear children, anew, I am imploring you as a mother who desires the good for her children: love your shepherds, pray for them. Thank you."
