LAY FAST FOR PRIESTS 2014
Ninth, annual Lay Fast for Priests day announced

ATTLEBORO, MA – 16 September 2014 – ARK Ministries has announced that the ninth, annual Lay Fast for Priests will take place
on Saturday, 18 October 2014.  Lay Catholics from all areas of the world will unite in a common day of fasting and prayer on the
day. The  fast day will begin at dawn and conclude at 3.00 PM.

Fasting is praying with the body. In his general audience on 12 January 1994, St. John Paul II stated that “prayer united with
sacrifice is the most powerful force in human history.”  On this day again, as in the past seven years,  a global army of catholic lay
people will join together in a day of common fast and prayer to offer up these small sacrifices for our priests. “Millions of Catholics
pray every day for our priests. However, this Lay Fast allows us one common day each year when all our prayers aligned with fasting
can be offered for our priests in a joint sacrifice by the laity,” said Anna Rae-Kelly, Founder of the Lay Fast for Priests.

The “Lay Fast for Priests” annual event began in 2006 in the Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts and has taken place on the
third Saturday of October each year since then.  Thousands of lay Catholics join the common event from around the world.
In 2013, the Lay Fast was held in 54 countries.

We humbly ask that the spirituality of every priest will be strengthened and protected and that God will bless us with greater
numbers of holy priests through whose consecrated hands we will continue to receive the Eucharist” commented Rae-Kelly.

Information and advice on how to register to join the day can be found at http://www.annaprae.com/layfast2014onlinesignup.html
or by calling the Lay Fast for Priests publicity team at (774) 204 1530.
